General / Convince me into getting Carcassonne Edition 2
« on: January 24, 2017, 02:20:46 PM »
For a long time I was hesitant into getting Carcassonne 2.
Due to my believe that I wanted to boycot the new edition, hoping it would not replace the old one. At this moment I realise that carcassonne edition 1 is going to be exclusive to the ones who ever collected them.
I'm glad that I almost completed the first edition (I still don't have cult siege and creativity). But should it be a blessing that I completed it and simply be done with it?
I can't convince myself yet to buy carcassonne edition 2, although I really want to try and collect the new mechanics of watchtowers and the upcoming 10th expansion.
Is it the money? Is it my believe that I don't need it? I don't know... But something is really holding me back.

So I ask you, once again, to start the discussion.
or better..

Convince me into getting the new edition of Carcassonne.

General / Complete list of Carcassonne game components?
« on: April 29, 2016, 05:23:31 AM »
Hello guys,

I was looking for a complete list of all carcassonne game components, weird though, I can't find it on this forum?
Does anyone know a complete list? Or are we able to make one?

I'm talking about a list of official game components for the collectors.
- Base game editions,
- Expansions
- Mini-expansions
- different meeple colors
- different drawbags,
- misprints,
- rare items
- etc.

Hello guys,
Did a game of River Madness last week, to test it for the suggestions of my application:

1 x Carcassonne Base Game
2 x River I
2 x River II
1 x River III
1 x GQ#11 Expansion

1 x drawbag for tiles

Following houserules:

We had the normal tile + the GQ#11 tile to start with.
Mixed the river tiles through the base game tiles and we played them like a normal carcassonne set.

When a follower is placed on a river it becomes a boatsman, scoring 1 point per river tile.

Game had 142 drawtiles and 144 tiles in total.

It was pretty fun, but there were a lot of opportunities to block eachother too easily. Because of the bad variety of the river this sometimes become impossible to finish.
It_sme ended with 158 points,
I ended with 201 points.

News and Events / New Expansion: Japanese Temples!
« on: April 18, 2016, 07:34:36 AM »

Have fun dear members!

They look incredible ugly, but nevertheless.. it's a new expansion.

Hello People,

Today I tried one of my suggestions from the Carcassonne Collection Counter: Road Madness.

It consists of the following expansions:
1 x Carcassonne Base Game
1 x Inns & Kathedrals
1 x Bridges (B, C & B)
1 x The School
1 x German Kathedrals
1 x German Castles
1 x Ferries
1 x Robbers
1 x Labyrinth
1 x The Wagon (A & M)
1 x The Phantom

Game has 113 drawtiles and a total of 118 tiles in play.

I don't own The Tunnel yet, so I replaced it with the phantom, which actually is a very good addition to this game.
Short game of maximum 45 min to set up and play it.

I have to admit that both me and my girlfriend (It_sme) had one of the best games we've ever played.

Because this set-up is totally fixed on completing and getting roads, this game is really fun, for the first time we played with german kathedrals. And wow, what a nice complex expansion this is. It really makes roads a thing you want to play with. Your strategy is changed a lot. you're not focussed on cities, because well, the kathedrals make up to around 15-20 points each and then i didn't even count the roads leading to the kathedrals.

Try this set-up dear members, trust me, I liked it, my girlfriend liked it and my brother did too..

So the games:

We did 2 games: 1 with It_sme and me, 1 with It_sme, me and my little brother.

The first game we were really surprised, the new rules really had us working on roads, roads and roads. Which we mostly just quickly end in our regular 200-300 games.
We wanted to do a quick game, with more balance, with my app I recently created, I was thinking of balanced games. This was one of them. And I have to admit, I wasn't disappointed.

The combination of The school and the ferries took us by surprise, the same with the school and the robbers. It made us use the teacher a lot more times. and the robber and the teacher made some really fun combinations. (Player A scored the same points as player B, But the Robber gave Player A, half of those points again. NICE!!)

This game gave us a lot of interactions.
Eventually ending the scoring with:

SRBO (black): 250
It_sme (green): 165

The second game (sorry for bad quality picture)

SRBO (black): 258
It_sme (green): 254
Brother (orange): 206

It was a close call, our concentration was a little lost. But It_sme got more used to the new rules.
at some point all the sides were roads, throwing 2 tiles away because they couldn't be connected.

The Labyrinth was a nice thing with the kathedrals, making large interesting roads.
In the end we were very very close to eachother.
It were 2 fun games.

General / Small question - Tile count in WoF
« on: March 29, 2016, 02:16:38 PM »
I know it's somewhere here on this forum. But i can't seem to find my answer.

Wheel of fortune stand alone edition has it 72 tiles or 84 tiles (like the bb5 version?)

General / What is the value/rarity of your Carcassonne collection?
« on: March 13, 2016, 09:36:20 AM »
Hello guys,

Lately I've been really wondering how much my Carcassonne collection is worth. So I was thinking, isn't there a way to create a system here on this forum to determine the value of each individual collection either in points or some kind of currency?

If there already is such a system please post me a link. If so sorry for the double post.

So I have an idea:

Most expansion can be bought in a store. Ofcourse this value is different in each country, this because of the difference in taxes or the presence of a distributor. Nevertheless we can create a formula that removes the tax. The value that then comes out is then the amount of points that 1 expansion or base game is worth.

So that is the idea for expansions which are still available.
For the expansions like cathars we can create a poll which ask the question how much do you think this expansion is worth? The same for limited editions and all unique parts.

In the end we have a very large list with the value in points for each item. A lot of work but..

It creates some kind of reference guide of how much an item is worth, so that one won't pay double the price for something..

Another reason to create an international system is because my complete collection isnt the same as some elses because of the difference in what ive payed for certain expansions..

The points can then be transfered if someone wishes to, in a factor for their country ( in the netherlands factor 1,21, because of the 21% tax. In New sealand a high factor because of the absence of a distributor.).

I was thinking to take Germany as the reference.

Let me know what you guys think!

Other Games / Dominion- which to buy?
« on: December 07, 2015, 11:54:59 PM »
Hello all,
My girl and I recently started the dominion games.. at first I wasnt really drawn to.the game because in my opinion it looked too much like magic the gathering. Well that changed  the moment I started to play it

We got them as a gift. Both intrique and guilds.
Now I want to buy another for her.. but which one is the best to.get? I searched around on the internet and they gave me the suggestion to buy either the normal base game or.the dark ages.
Now I trust you guys and girls better then any other source. Which expansion from all the dominion games should I buy for her as a present?

P.s. do you remember the post where I told you my girlfriend doesnt like boardgames? Well.. she is addicted now and a merciless coldblooded player, I really need to pay attention or she totally wins Carcassonne double the points. Hahaha I like it

News and Events / 25 years 999games - Election for their best game
« on: November 03, 2015, 09:36:46 AM »
999games, the dutch publisher of Carcassonne, is holding an election for their best game for several weeks now.

In the semi-finals I Dominion kicked out Catan.
In the Semi-finals II is now Carcassonne, Saboteur, Andor and Elfenland.

My guess is that Carcassonne will win these Semi-finals and will compete in the finals against Dominion.

The game is very populair in our country these days, so who knows? maybe Carcassonne will win another election for best game?

General / No new expansions.. is it just me?
« on: September 29, 2015, 01:32:52 PM »
Hello all,

My feeling is that its been a really long time since any new promo or expansion came out.. (burgen in germany?)
Okay besides carcassonne 2 and spin-offs, we haven't heard of anything new quite a while for the regular carcassonne. Even in Essen nothing new is coming..

Do you guys (and ladies) think something new will come?

I'm refreshing the unread posts, watching a close eye on cundco.. but just nothing.. no news or info at all?

Whats happened with the Spanish cloisters? The burgen for other countrys. a possible spielbox expansion?
