One of the great things about being on holiday is forgetting to do stuff.

I meant to publish the results of our 7th Poll:

1)Castles of Burgundy & Alhambra - 8 votes
3) Flashpoint Fire Rescue, Lords of Waterdeep, Five Tribes - 4 votes
6) Famiglia, Escape: Curse of the Temple, Acquire,Mille Bornes, Clank!, Finca, Onirim, Imperial Settlers - 2 votes
14) Tigris and Euphrates, Diamonds?, Pokemon card game, Expedition - 1 votes
18) Medina, Shogi

So Castles of Burgundy & Alhambra both go through to the next round.

I'm really surprised Alhambra had so much love.  It's a great game but not many people mentioned it.  I'm also amazed Tigris and Euphrates and Onirim didn't receive more votes too.

Final reminder:

Top 10 - Poll #8 - open until 5th June!

ACQUIRE

Avalon Hill (current) and others - 3-6 players - age 12+ - 90mins

This used to be our (the wife and I) most played game ... until Carcassonne came along at the start of 2016! Now it gets played, maybe, once a month. The theme is building up hotel chains across a 12x9 grid by placing individual tiles from your hand, buying shares in them, trying not to run out of cash and hoping to be lead shareholder when the chain is bought over by a larger chain (when a tile is placed to link the two chains on the board) or at the end of the game. Don't get too attached to a chain as it's likely to be taken over at some point, unless it grows quickly. At the end of the game each remaining chain is valued and the person with most cash is the winner.

As there are only two of us we play it with a dummy hand each, which has a set of rules for tile placement, share buying and what to do when a takeover occurs. One of us usually wins, although on odd occasions one of our "bankers" has most money at the end.

I've been playing this by email/post in recent years, with 4 or 5 other players, which makes for a completely different challenge to playing face-to-face.
AutumnForest (C2), Catch Of The Day (C1/2/WD), Cliffs&W'falls (C1/2), Coast (C1/2), FishHuts (C2), Fluvium (C2), NewForest (C2), Harvest (C1/2), Stone Circles (C1/2), Wells (C2), Jordan River 2 (AotC), River I/II (GR)
Devt: Sakura (C2), WinterEdge (C1), WinterCoast (WD/WE) and others
