Yeah, that was a monster inn road, which she finished on her last turn. I think I've only used ferries once before, but we thought we'd give 'em a try and ended up liking them. If I had been thinking, I would've used a ferry to shorten her monster road. Lessons learned. The escaped animals are a variant work in progress to go with the Bazaar tiles. Still needs a bit of work though. Oh, we also tried a new way to use the princess tiles. I added a Princess token, and we played the princess tiles the same way as the Winter Gingerbread Man expansion. No kidnapping, extra points, everyone was happy.

Thanks for the speedy delivery, Kothmann! Received my set Monday, added some bits and tried it yesterday in a 4-color, 2-player game (my daughter couldn't decide between purple and yellow, so the 2 of us played a 4 player game). In honor of the game's sender, we tried out some of Kothmann's greatest variant hits: Old City (which, among other things, combines Bridge, Wall and Gate, Guesthouse and Wyvern) and Flash Points. Happy to say we both loved the variety of the double sided tiles and the ingeniously handy walls and gates. Liked the guesthouses too, even though mine didn't finish, thus sadly scoring 0. Wyvern was fun too, when we remembered to move it. We also liked the exploding volcanoes of Flash Points, although they weren't a major factor in this particular game. All in all, it was a great playing experience, and I think this set (complete with variant rules) will become my standard travel set. Thanks again, Kothmann, for the awesome set and wonderful variants to play with it!

I can confirm the blankness of the main page. I wondered if it was due to the recent Chrome update, but it isn't working in Firefox or Edge either. Anyone outside of the U.S.A. having the issues? Btw, I like your Atari avatar, kheller2! For awhile, mine was sporting the dragon from the game Adventure.

Hi, all! I just had an incredible dream. I was pulling out tiles to start a game of Carcassonne, and one of the tiles "TURNED ON!" It was a double-tile, and it had a little switch on the top edge like an iPad. When clicked on, it actually displayed images of how to play the tile! Unfortunately, I woke up before seeing what the full artwork or mechanics entailed, but it got me wondering. What will Carcassonne of the future look like? If we or machines don't wipe ourselves out, what amazing technology might exist a hundred years from now? Carc tiles with moving artwork (an actual flowing river or tiny people bustling about in a busy city)? A connected device could play audio: when you play a dragon tile, it roars. And tiny tile sensors could track the dragon token's movement and make chomping sounds when it eats your meeple. Or will everything be holographic like Star Wars chess? Or better yet, imagine a Star Trek type holo-deck experience where you interact with visuals from the game (although I'm not sure I'd want to interact with a life-size dragon)!
If anyone has a time machine, kindly pop into the future, check it out, and come back and tell us what Carcassonne of the future looks like. I'm curious. Anyone else?

Interesting assortment of tiles, Kothmann! Did you use your tower and wind rose variants too? I'm a big fan of Cosmic Orienteers. Haven't tried Hatteras Captains yet though... We played a game today using the large coaster tiles found here: https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=4065.0 along with large phantoms and mini meeples (given for filling a hole without an abbey). It was a great game, despite playing on an uneven picnic table and the wind almost blowing away the tiles and moving the meeples!
