The Santa Claus Event 2016 holds two delicacies ready for you:On the one hand the first 150 customers will get this limited Santa Claus Scoring Board, decorated with the signature of the author Klaus-Jürgen Wrede.Of course, the second gem is the 'Spiel '16' tile, from which you can add (1!) to each order, worth more then 5€.
The Santa Claus Event 2016 ends as soon as the 'Spiel '16' tiles are out of stock, but latest at the 11^th of December 2016.

Thanks for the notification. I have been checking every day, but today was a holiday so I didn't have time.

My wife has been bugging me to pick out something I want for Xmas. I went to the site and filled my cart with some goodies and told her that is what I wanted. She even got me the scoring board though I don't know quite what I will do with it. I don't exactly want to play with it and I am not sure I want to frame it. For $3 (after VAT) it is a cool idea though.

It's not only a scoring board, it has an expansion rule too: The first player going on or over the "6" and "24" immediately gets an extra turn

That isn't exactly a major game changer. I think every player should be able to get the bonus if it is in fact Xmas themed.

Acquiring the maze tiles unfortunately thrust ugly art into my house. I will get new expansions if they aren't available in the old art. I won't rebuy anything I have though.

You could take one of your Carcassonne I scoring boards and make a drawing on it or use a (red?) stamp from your children to sign the "6" and "24" - but you will miss the authentic signature of K.J. Wrede.

I am not interested in this scoreboard, but if I were, as a Carc2.0-naysayer, I could easily pick it up without compromising myself. What I dislike about Carcassonne 2.0 are the gardens and the colours of the cities and fields on the tiles. Scoreboard art is far less important, in my opinion.

But where else are the Kids of Carcassonne supposed to play if not for the gardens? I imagine it drives the Parents of Carcassonne quite mad if they stay in all day as they need the fresh air and a chance to let off some steam...

I never said anything about carc II because I understand that the feels are subjective
BUT, for me... when u see from live an ended game with the tiles from carc II you see a great landscape... also the green look nice!
I started to buy the base game when it comes out a little bit perplexed... then I played it with the spiel tiles, the labirynth, inns and cathedral, traders and builder... and every time I add something new I always say "omg! I love this landscape!"...
I think I'll love the classig edition forever, but I think that they have done well to "modernize" the game... maybe the colour are too "garish" (I find this word on google translate, I don't know if you understand what I meen), but c'mon, the designs are done really well... and I look forward to enjoying a game with the new princess and the Dragon (I love the new volcano!), the tower, spiel 16 (I really love the one of this year), the watchtowers (that are really good and I think finally something new!) with the Christmas signed scoreboard!
and finally I can say without shame...
I love carc II too and I'll recollect all again!

P.s... and I was thinking about the interactions between the christmas scoreboard with the builder and the messenger...
