Title: Carcassonne & Co. Newsletter - announcing a new "Spiel '14" Carcassonne tile
Post by: wamboyil on October 14, 2014, 06:46:14 AM
I just received the following e-mail newsletter from cundco.de (I hope it's ok to post it here). Lots of information about all the cool Hans-im-Glück products and goodies available at Essen. I really want that Essen promo pack, including the Spiel '14 tile! (Anyone want to help out a US Carc member???) Here's the newsletter (in German), with the images:

Carcassonne & Co Newsletter

Sankt Petersburg - Die Neuauflage:

Spin-Off vorgestellt.

- Carcassonne - Halb so Wild II

This is a very rough (but hilarious) translation of the part of the email specific to the Essen 2014 pack:

"Mini-extensions and other goodies

Already in the last few years, our Carcassonne & Co stand great obesity has delighted and we could say thousands of visitors welcome. Some we asked what they would like to have and because we have tried some wishes fulfill.

What is there new this year?

We have developed the Hans in the pack!
A portable sturdy cardboard box (of course, FSC-certified), which includes all sorts of great promos. As would The wind roses, The besiegers, Carcassonne Gold Rush The Sheriff and Bruges pets, just to name a few. But that's not all, in each packet are also some great (for some culinary) surprises.
Want to know more? Then you must willy-nilly stop by our booth ...

Of course, we all have mini-extensions individually for sale here and of course even more than the above. Some examples are:
- Carcassonne - Half the Wild II
- Carcassonne - The Cloisters
- Russian Rail Roads and Stone Age, the German game prize mini expansion

And as a special treat every buyer receives the exclusive "Spiel14" Carcassonne tiles.
So you see, well worth a visit in any case!"

If they're delighted by great obesity they'll love me!  :@

They're trying to break us all, right? This last month or so has sent the collector in me haywire! That goody bag looks amazing!

Limited-availability mini expansions...     I must have all of them...

So this would be the first minipromo expansion for carcassonne II.
But a lot of good goodies

So many limited availability tiles at Essen this year. I'm just glad they are still releasing material for those who can't make it, even if they're not the same. I would've been so annoyed if half and half was an Essen exclusive but this promo tile would look nice in a collection but I'd feel a bit fraudulent having it on mine without ever going!

My understanding of the email was that the Spiel 2014 tile was an exclusive gift to anyone who buys something from their stall. This doesn’t make it any easier for those of us who can’t/ aren’t going to Essen to get hold of it but it doesn’t sound as though numbers of these tiles will be especially limited.

I’m sure a few of them will turn up on eBay (as per usual) but it looks as though 2014 may be the year that the completionist within me gives up trying to own every little bit of Carcassonne. Sad times...  :(

The completionist within me is now turning into a selective completionist. If it adds a new dynamic to the game I'll try and get it; this promo tile doesn't so my completionist side is dormant.

I see it as more of a souvenir. I'm not taking it too seriously but am taking it for what it is. I'd quite like to own it because I like the look of it, but it's not the end of the world if I can't get one and I certainly don't intend to go trawling round eBay for one...

Kettlefish, is it possible to ask the Cundco staff if some of these could be offered to loyal Carc Central members.  Maybe if you make a purchase from the website during the time that Spiel 2014 is on you get it as a bonus.

As always - I hope that they give me some pieces that I am able to give these pieces away to the community as "surprisings".

I have a question! :)

Ok, so in that "goodiebag" comes windrose and besiegerers.. Does that mean you will not be able to buy the besiegerers from Cundco webshop after the Essen thingy, or will it be available there after Essen? :)

I don’t think anybody knows for sure. But for what it’s worth, my understanding was that they would be available from cundco after Essen, I don’t see why their availability at Essen should necessarily affect this...

The discussed rules are from me and contain a malus-/bonus-scoring.

You have to count the connected cities to the city with the fair tile. Therefore only cities connected through road networks count,  no cities connected only through other cities or cloisters.

When the fair-city is completed (or the same at final scoring) and there are
no cities connected: you have to go back 3 points
1 city connected: you have to go back 1 point
2 cities connected: don't got back or forward
3 cities connected: you have to go forward 1 point
4 cities connected: you have to go forward 3 point
5 cities connected: you have to go forward 6 point
6 cities connected: you have to go forward 9 point (for every futher city 3 ponts forward)
on the scoreboard.

This is extra to the regular scoring for the player(s) who get(s) the regular points

Yes you can post it here if you only use graphic from Carcassonne games. In my opinion the city-ground is too dark, the light walls and blue roofs are not so bad.

I've bought a fair bit of Carcassonne stuff from ebay.de in the past (but nothing since January this year). Even if the listing says they won't post it outside of Germany, if you contact the seller they'll often make an allowance for an extra couple of Euros.

With regard to timing, I would look to buy sooner rather than later as prices will go much higher when there are fewer available...

I just ordered the besieger and halfing expansion from cundco and i asked them if they would make an exeption and include a spiel 2014 tile. This was the answer i received.

"thanks for your order. We're really sorry but the promo tile was exclusively for the Spiel 2014 and will not be sold (or give away) sepatately.
BUT, we'll include it in future special actions, maybe for Saint Nicolas, so keep your eyes open. ;-)"

So it seems we'll be able to get it on a later date afterall.

(P.s: Dutch and German Saint nicolas is on the fifth/sixth of december. It's like santa claus without the christmas, obesity and radio-active reindeer)

It is the "real"-supermarket - on this site you can search for a market http://www.real.de/markt-aendern.html

Nearly everywhere in Germay the children get St. Nicolas presents in the morning of the 6th of December. You have to clean a shoe and place it at the doorway. I think in the netherlands you get bigger presents ...
Thereafter St. Nicolas goes to the pole, fetches the reindeers and flies to the United States for the 24th of December. He masquerades as Santa Claus ... (In German he's called Sankt Nikolaus) while in Germany the children get their presents from the Christmas man (in Northern Germany / whom they call Father Christmas in England) or from the Christ Child himself (in Southern Germany).

I think the St. Nicolas action will be of HiG or Cundco themselves, not of 999 games in the Netherlands

Well at least the germans are more creative with namegiving. In holland Santa Claus is called "De Kerstman" Which literally translates into "The Christmasguy"

It was Cundco answering the mail so it think it was them.

I don't think you can buy it in December but you have to do something for it - but I can't imagine, what is to do.

So is anyone in NL or DE selling this tile for a decent price?
I'd rather not spend €20 for it on eBay  :-[

Just to echo Sekim's post - if there are any owners of spare Spiel '14 tiles floating about willing to sell to someone in the UK, please get in touch - i'd be very grateful !

If not, I'll just have to wait for this mysterious Saint Nicholas to see if he pays Cundco a visit with the tile  ^-^ (I've just bought the besigner and half tiles though I still have a few more bits to purchase from there).

Well, I wanted to order the Russian Railroads and Bruges mini expansions anyway. So if you place an order and give them a Christmas poem they will send you the Spiel 14 tile for free. They basically just need something to cover the cost of shipping.

I don't intend to own Carc 2.0 but for some reason I found myself wanting/needing this damned tile.  >:D

I placed my order and here is my poem:

With soft candle light glow and City lights low,
We melt into Christmas Carcassonne.
With minds burning bright in this evening delight,
The Farm has long been the largest one.
The Monastery quiet, hushes all who would try it
And the Road is long for the riding.
Meeting Heart, Mind and Soul, the bonds of friendship old,
Is Carcassonne at the Christmas tiding!

Anyone else want to post up their poems?

The promotion is over now right?

This is the poem Carla and I submitted (well she actually wrote it, and I just clicked the buttons on the website):

Dear Santa Claus, with thoughts of snow,
I write to you care of CundCo.
There are so many things I wished
To put down on my Christmas list.
But first of these, if I speak plain,
Would be the tile "Spiel '14".
I really hope they're not all gone
'Cause I love playing Carcassonne!

:blue-meeple: For those of you who aren't fluent in german - 14 is spelled "vierzehn" :blue-meeple:

Hello kettlefish,

Yes indeed! I got a complete set of orange meeple, some pink and purple meeple (to complete the set from BB5), a set of meeple stickers, 2!! Spiel 14 tiles and a set of meeple-themed pretend hazard stickers - all as a present for Xmas (I also received the Big Box 5 too ;D ) . I haven't a lot of time to post at the moment, when I do have some more time, I will show off my collection and customised Big Box to you all. :@
