The Marketplace / WTS: Russian Nobles and Tower - Single Count Tile
« on: June 24, 2015, 04:15:05 AM »
I've got one more box of The Russian Count looking for a good home.

Box is unopened and contains the following:

1 Count of Carcassonne Tile
1 Tower
Dragon & Princess
The Tower
Crop Circles 1
River II
Cult Shrines

Postage from Russia was quite expensive, but if you're interested send me a PM.  I'll happily ship it anywhere.

I've been looking at the Winter Edition Tiles implemented in JCZ and I think there is a small (unless you're a farmer) mistake:

JCZ uses the same tiles as this picture:

From BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/image/1499736/carcassonne-winter-edition

Note that the top right CRrf tile has 3 fields in Abbey and Mayor, but only 2 in the Winter Edition.

Leagues (including expansion leagues) / CC Ladder - Volunteers Needed
« on: April 08, 2015, 02:14:46 PM »
I've been investigating other ways we could find partners to play Carcassonne and I've hacked together some PHP-code for a Ladder Tournament System.  I'm thinking this would run alongside the weekly & league games organized here at Carcassonne Central.  It's a continuous ladder so there's no end-date season etc.

Currently:
It lets you register [don't put in your good passwords],
Maintains a League/Ladder/Pyramid for all the players.
Lets you challenge people 3 places ahead of you on the ladder.
Sends you both emails with your addresses so you can work out when to play.
Gives you 7 days (configurable) to record your game.
Records all the results for people to see.

Does some other bits and pieces.

Bear in mind,  It's rudimentary, buggy, some of the text is totally wrong, some URLs might break.

I'm looking for some BRAVE volunteers who are willing to give it a go:

I have some caveats:
Generally, with less members, I'd like challenges to be made and played sooner than 7 days.
It's likely to all go wrong, so dont get upset if results are misrecorded/lost or what not.

So if you're willing to give it a go - let me know and I'll send you to the URL.

General / Ordering Russian Carcassonne Tiles
« on: April 01, 2015, 07:06:15 AM »
I've had many people ask me how to get hold of The Russian Carcassonne Tiles:

Given the very expensive postage (and VAT charges), it's definitely cheaper to consolidate orders.

I may be ordering again soon so:

If you're interested - please let me know plus which Country you're from and I'll investigate how much it will all cost; or what the cheapest approach will be.

You may also want to consider:  Russian versions of: Hunters & Gatherers, The Castle and Wheel of Fortune.

General / Preparation for UK Championships
« on: February 17, 2015, 07:56:16 AM »
Most of you already know that The UK Championships is on Sunday 31st May 2015, that's not long now!:

http://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/game.php?id=BOR1097

I'm not entirely sure if I can make it yet; but I know I need as much practice as I can get, in order to beat the first round.

The first three rounds are usually 4-player games of the base 72-tile set.

The strategies for 4 player games are very different from two player games (which most championships do); I'd like to make it a regular thing, so I can get my skill level up in preparation.

If you're based in the UK and want some practice; maybe we can set a suitable time.

But, if you're not based in the UK; you're still very welcome to help us out, but the times may be slightly worse for you!

No doubt we can sort something out for everyone!

Happy 4-player Carcassonne!

Edit: Changed to Three Rounds not two...doh!

General / Cross Over Games

Saw this on the carcassonne-forum and thought it was worth sharing with non-german speaking players, who may have missed it:

It's such a great idea!

General / Carcassonne in Japan
« on: January 01, 2015, 04:26:57 AM »
It looks like Carcassonne is taken pretty seriously in Japan, I just wondered if any of the completionists here had seen these:

https://sv84.wadax.ne.jp/~mobius-games-co-jp/shop/1_1230.html

Looks like they're out of print now, but they're two "Carcassone Strongest Teaching" books containing Championship Rankings and Tactics and various other things that are lost in translation!

This looks like the official site:

I just thought the manga take on the artwork was fun so wanted to share!

« on: December 31, 2014, 01:32:28 PM »
I know some of you are already celebrating, but just wanted to wish everyone a happy 2015!

I hope this year has brought you and your familes good tidings.

I'd also like to thank everyone's hard work on this forum.  There's so many people all willing to help each other, specially when looking for those hard to find tiles :D but also those people sharing their creations.

I'm sure 2015 is going to be fantastic carcassonne year!

JCloisterZone FAQ, Suggestions & Bug Reports / New Screenshot Feature
« on: December 23, 2014, 04:09:42 AM »
I'm working on a simple screenshot feature in JCloisterZone, which will capture the entire game board and control panel and save it as a PNG to a specified directory.

I know lots of people like to capture their games and I thought it would be helpful not having to zoom out and printscreen and paste/crop etc.

I've got the basic feature working, I'd like to know if anyone else had any thoughts, or what it should/could capture?
