We learned the game with wheel of fortune. So now, carcasonne isnt carcasonne for me without it. Plus, i like that you have different options in the beginning and your field is a bit bigger.

So eight bridges and castles. I think i'm gonna go with that to. Although you make a good point about the big games. Do you have 20 tunnel tokens or tower pieces? That bit is a little confusing to me. We don't play with the tunnels (so far) so i'm not going to need them. On the other hand, the last time i thought i had everything it didn't go so well with all the expanding since then.

To bad that the phantoms are standard colours. But i think it's a nice solution you came up with. If i would have the base set of phantoms i would do that to. Now i'm just restraining myself from buying the phantoms :P

I thought I'd continue this thread rather than start a new one, because, well, why the devil not?

I've just placed a large Cundco order to make my Carcassonne collection playable for ten players.

Smart thinking in both statements. I have a ten player set and i have read this topic several times.

So I ordered some more tower pieces, castle tokens, abbey tiles and bridges. Then for completion, I also ordered catapult tokens (yes, I know).

My problem is that we discoverd Carcassonne pretty late so i just recently got the remaining big expansions i still missed. That means that i keep running after the facts with the 10 player sets. I have enough scoring tiles, all the meeples from all the expansions and extra abbey tiles. But i'm still missing extra bridges, castles, tower pieces and catapult tokens. I get why you want those to, it's just having the possibility to play catapult with 10 players and to have a complete set  ;)

I take it you ordered 8 extra bridges and castles? Thats what i was thinking about since reading this topic. Two per person extra. But how meany tower pieces did you order? I'm still not sure, i get why people say that you need 5 per person, since thats what the rules say for six players. But the rules also downscale the numbers of pieces when you ad more players. So maybe 5 is to much. But how many then, since 2 or phiewer doesnt get the result you want in the game.

Which also included an additional set of phantoms I had to procure from elsewhere.

Really?! In alernate colours? Where did you get those? I'm looking for these a while now! I don't want to buy the original phantoms unless i can get the 4 alternate colours to (i have the same colours as you have)

I think mine were also about 5 euro. But i live in the Netherlands so i can imagine shipping is cheaper then. But with all the other reactions here, i can conclude that it's fairly the same. Within europe at least. So again i say: Cundco  ;)

I have a player set of 10 so i needed 4 extra abbeys. I got mine from Cundco, via the spare parts option.

Pview, what a relieve! ;) Otherwise i've been "preparing" for the plague all wrong. I always try to keep in mind that i have to have one follower placed on the field who's not a disaster to give up. A small road or something. Altough, some times the plague comes in handy,  if your in a project that you know your gonna lose because someone has overtrown you in power for example.

Very rarely does anyone bother with a crown space as the points just aren't worth the follower being sat there, although I will occasionally stick one on there if I have plenty of followers to spare, and it is useful to have one on there to reduce the impact of the plague section.

Ehm, i always have interpreted the rules from the plague section to be that it's not allowed to take a follower from the wheel. I tought the rules state that you have to take a follower from the field, not the wheel. In our playgroup we don't consider the wheel part of the field, but now i'm wondering if this cleary states in the rules or if it's just our interpretation of the rules...

Yes, indeed it does! And i can see the confusion about the WoF  ;)

I'm curious to see what other people think of the number of tiles that the wheel counts for. And about the opinions in scoring monk/abbots to!

Thanks to danisthirsty and Board Game Extras

Ah, you've got the abbots! No yellow?

Not yet, since BGE ran out of yellow ones.

Oh boy, now a feel a bit guilty... I ordered an extra yellow one to paint grey, sorry!  :-\

But, when i contacted BGE to thank them for selling when i asked them for the abbots, they told me that their gonna have a few sets soon. But after that batch, it may take a while. So i would email them to ask if they can keep you posted, if i were you. They were very nice and had a great service with me  ;)

Ah, but in that conversation i meant that its almost always better to lay your follower as an abbot instead of a regular monk because of the total points it delivers. A monk is 9, an abbot how many tiles there are in horizontal and vertical position. Because of the wheel, wich we count as 4 tiles, you almost always inmidiatly find a place for your monasterie that delivers more than 9 points. So its almost always better to use it as an abbot.

But i'm curious if you guys see this rule in the same way.

In case of the wheel scoring points for monks when the pig lands on that option, the abbot doesnt get any points in my opinion. After all, he is an abbot, not a monk.
