I collected the 6 old Mini expansions in their respective boxes, and every box had one of the Mini 7 (corn circles) tiles.
I already know the rules for this expansion as I own the newer Carcassonne 2017 Big Box, but I am wondering, how were players years ago supposed to know how to play this? The rules are not included in any of the Minis.

At the time you could download the rules in German from HiG's website.
-
Or you used the rules of crop circles I
-
...if you could get hold of a copy... :o
-
Or have a copy of the rules ;)

Were the CC1 and CC2 rules compatible? I thought there were some nuance about how they worked. Something about one of the tiles only applied when it was a Tuesday afternoon and the canteen lady had already dropped off the tuna-sandwiches. But in all seriousness, I seem to remember JCZ did something different.... but maybe that was a small bug. Good thing there's a website that contains all the rules for the expansions now!
-
Nope. Completely identical.
-
Ha ha ha!
Don't know what you are talking about...
In the end, these little nuances that deviate from HiG rules seem to be the result of mistranslations or even editing errors...
The issue is that RGG or ZMG never mended them, and players normally assume written rules are correct. Even HiG makes a mistake from time to time... HiG is more responsive in this sense with their English translations.
Shall we forgive them all for this background noise in the peaceful mediaeval landscape that surrounds us?

..Maybe I'm remembering the road that isnt a junction, because it doesn't have a bush on it?
Mediæval, I thought we established that Carcassonne is set sometime after 1928?

Nope. Completely identical.
Here you can have fun when reading the five discrepancies by ZMG we pointed out in the wording of C2 Crop Circles alone:

Ah yes!!! That's C1 Crop Circles...
The most intuitive tile ever!

And the corresponding clarification by HiG: :o

The three road segments on this tile end at the junction, even though there are no obstacles pictured in the road. All junctions and crossings are treated the same, regardless of the artwork. This is not a continuous road with three branches. (5/2014)

I don't think it is that frustrating at all... it was always my headcanon that an invisible UFO is parked on that junction ;D
-
Every since I found out that's not a continuous road, I've assumed that all straight-roads are actually 24 different roads all connecting in consecutive junctions.
-
I don't know why HiG would not like to have a 3-legged road in this case when they also created these tiles where a roundabout makes a "difference":

Hobby Wolrd also created this tile with a 3-legged road (contradicting the crop circle tile interpretation) and a road segment ending at a stone.

I know it was stated by HiG, but this goes against my main rule / tie-breaker for Carcassonne.
It's a visual game, so if something connects or not can be seen on the tiles.
Whenever I play with this expansion (not that often, but still), I treat it as 1 road

HaHa Willem, we all know that common sense never applies to Carcassonne rules >:D >:D >:D
