First of all, thank you @Meepledrone so much for organizing Advent Quiz again! It's truly a fantastic tradition, and I am always looking forward to it every year.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to answer the questions daily this time, so I had to tackle all of them last minute, working on them until the early hours of today's morning.
As you can imagine, this led to quite a few mistakes which clicked on me like a time bomb after the deadline. Oh well, lesson learned for next year!

Question 20
When @Bumsakalaka informed me that the newest at the time question included fan expansions, I felt unease at first. I was literally speachles for a moment, as that was something I was not expecting to happen. But when I've seen it, how densly packed it is, the negative points, I only imagined what people unfamiliar with them must feel.
Maybe next year fan-expansions will be mixed into easier questions and without grinch's heavy mischiefs :D
Now that I know for sure I’ve made some errors in this question, I’m bracing myself for the negative points that are sure to come my way.
It already feels embarrassing to see results, but that relates to part of Carcassonne's beauty while playing in person (unfortunately not present during online play), when "hold on, what are you doing?" or "wait wait wait, can't you see?" comes out during inproper scoring or overlooking something.

I truly appreciate the effort and time put into this event. It’s always a pleasure to participate, and it keeps the spirit of Carcassonne alive in such a fun and engaging way.

Looking forward to next year’s quiz already! And I know for sure I will need to answer daily, no matter what, and dedicate last days of a year to verify the answers like I've done in past years.

Merrits will flow @Meepledrone  :(y) :(y) :(y)

Just wanted to say thanks for organizing such an awesome tournament @Linkarssonne +1!  :(y)
Even though I got knocked out in eliminations, I had a good time, and the games were super fun and intense.
Looking forward to the next one!

General / The Ballad of Carcassonne
« on: February 21, 2024, 03:08:28 AM »
I usually work on graphics, but this time I teamed up with a talented musician friend who helped me turn the lyrics into an actual song.
After too much fine-tuning, which resulted in a delayed release date, it is finally complete.
Enjoy :)

Quote
[Verse 1]
Gather round the table if you dare,
Tiles, followers, score track, beware,
This is Carcassonne, this is a fight,
A medieval world, by strategy's might.

Tile by tile, laying the land,
The cities grow, and the roads expand,
Cloisters rise, in fields so deep,
Beautiful sights, memories to keep.

[Chorus]
Carcassonne, the board unfolds,
Building realms, tales untold,
Strategize each clever turn,
There is always much to learn.

[Verse 2]
Carcassonne Central, where we unite,
All of us far away, yet on the same site,
Merits are given, discussions cascade,
Fan expansions in the workshop are made.

There is Wikicarpedia, a digital scroll,
Whre Lies the codex, that all things control,
Collected knowledge, so clear and neat,
Encyclopedia which makes rules complete.

[Chorus]
Carcassonne, the board unfolds,
Building realms, tales untold,
Strategize each clever turn,
There is always much to learn.

Hey, I saw your previous message on this subject in one of the topics.
Personally, I've never had a problem with your photos, I've always liked that you insert them in full size without scaling.
I checked then on three browsers on PC (firefox, opera, chrome) on my phone on two (firefox, chrome) and have not encountered any problems both on the site and via tapatalk, via home internet and mobile.
In addition I also recently looked at CarcC from another country and different PC, also no problems with your photos.

Congratulations @Challa007 for winning the quiz! Big thanks to @Meepledrone for organizing such a fantastic event again :(y) :(y) :(y)

What I liked most about this edition was the lack of points for speed, all that mattered was knowledge, and in my case even with the help of WICA this knowledge was not so thoroughly used, maybe next time :D

That was a rough start  ???
Let's see if I made more stupid mistakes on the easiest questions, not to mention the hard ones.

@Meepledrone thanks so much for organising the quiz again! Several merits for you :(y)
There was no rush due to removal of the speed bonus. However, this has been more than compensated for by raising the difficulty level this year, so far it hasn't been that challenging.
Most of the questions were fun, I was waiting for the Peasants Revolts, much disliked by me, for this fun to be interrupted, fortunately I didn't get any questions with this expansion, however, another equally persistent for me was used.
With quiz complete, it's time to get back to making fan expansions, who knows, maybe the next quiz will be based on them  :))

- Meepledrone: In Question #7, sub-questions g) and h) use "to take control" meaning "to gain the single majority."
:(y)

Secret Code in question #8.5 is very nice this year   :))

I'd also like a definition of "control", I felt the need to add a clarification comment on my answer there too.

Yes, in questions g) and h) the term "control" is ambiguous.

The long-awaited time of year has finally arrived!
Thank you @Meepledrone for organizing this wonderful event  once again  :(y) :(y) :(y) :(y)

I know someone who will be REALLY pleased about this  ;)
I wonder who could that be ^-^

No more extra points for speed, only correct answer matters!

@BBG they also changed position of watermark on one of the monasteries, so now it stands out.

Regarding Liepzig, bigger signposts are nice change, in C2 not all of the elements were rotated by exactly 45 degree, but at least It wasn't as obvious at the first glance as the monastery book is now ::) They also changed from Berbador to some uglier font.

Thanks for comparison, +1
