Clarification about Wheel of Fortune taxation method

Every player receives points for his knights. For each knight, the player earns 1 point for each pennant in the city, plus 1 point for each of their knights in the city.

A question: are separate cities counted separately or together? Look at the following scenario:

If counted separately, the two pink cities are worth 2 points each, for a total of 4. If counted together, they are worth a grandtotal of 8 points. What's the correct one?

I forgot to score the fairy bonus point. Again.

I would score 4 for pink.

Cities are counted separately, for each knight, 1 point per pennant and per knight in his city. 4 points in your scenario  :yellow-meeple:

Thank you for the confirmation. I know I'm being extremely pedantic here but I'd like to propose a small change in how the rule is written out. From

I know the sentence says "city" (singular) twice and maybe it was already clear enough but now it would be even clearer :pink-meeple:

Ts is not necessary. Because you are going from the beginning of sentence. For each knight. So if I read it correctly then if you have for example two knights in city with one shield, then you score
1st knight - 1point for shield and 2 points for knights in city
2!s knight - same

So in the final you score 6 points, didn't you?

you are going from the beginning of sentence. For each knight.
This doesn't necessarely say that I have to consider cities separately. "For each knight" says that I have to consider every knight and apply an algoritm to them. Nowhere it's said that I have to consider every city separately, I think.
But it's ok, not a big problem.

It's written "in the city", if we had to count every city, it would be written "in a city" or "in the cities". I know it's something a headache to analyze the rules when so little words may imply a big difference  :yellow-meeple:

This is really easy. For each separate city you make the following calculation: v=k*(k+p)
k - number of knights
p - number of pennants
v - victory points gained

only knights belonging to the player are considered.

Yes, it is an odd scoring... I think of it as a distant cousin of the Gingerbread Man bonus...

For each separate city you make the following calculation: v=k*(k+p)
I love this, but most of my friends prefer "rules with no algebra".   ;)

I prefer the current concise wording, but it would be nice to add another meeple (red or blue) in the lower left corner of this example image:

The extra meeple earns 1 point, making things a bit clearer.

Understandable. I came up with this formula long ago to help me better visualize and remember the scoring process  ^-^ (it's also shorter to write).
Perhaps it will aid @Sir Lose-a-Farm in his gaming experience.

Never said it wasn't easy, my question was about the "For each separate city" part

but it would be nice to add another meeple (red or blue) in the lower left corner of this example image:

That would be extremely helpful IMO, that would have totally prevented the doubt that started this cursed thread

Not sure about it. What will be score for this example by original rules and how by your simplification?

It is not a simplification, but an additional example with two cities with meeples to show that each city is scored separately.
