Cundco Christmas 2017 Haul!

Hi Everyone!

I have just received part 1 of my Christmas order from Cundco.
It contains: Spiel 17 Tile, The Watchtowers, The Markets Of Leipzig and Japanese Buildings.

I have a second part coming which contains: Carcassonne Boxes For Mini Expansions, Meeple Bags and a Second Spiel 17 Tile which I will post an image of when it arrives.
If anyone else has ordered stuff from Cundco for Christmas I would be interested to know what is in it and/or see an image!

P.S The Japanese buildings don't seem to have matching fields to the new edition tiles (which I find quite annoying ) and the rules show old edition tiles but I'm sure I read that the artwork matched the new edition. Does anyone have an explanation for this?

Well, the buildings themselves are neither art form, so as you said, it's mostly just the fields - although the stylised roads show that it clearly is the new edition. Basically, there have been issues with matching field colours in both artwork since danisthirty was danisababy. I find it quite annoying too.

Great xmas haul!


The Japanese buildings were created for the Japanese release of the new edition.   Cundco released them as a stand alone ahead of the Japanese market...for little no apparent polite reason.  The artwork is done by a local Japanese artist.  When comparing the japanese basegame tiles to the japanese buildings in the same box the grasses are close to matching.

Looking at your photo, it looks like the Festival tiles are the worst match.

Also where is your basegame printed?  An edition I have, managed to do a terrible job, they're not even printed on standard tiles.

Since the old art festivals are also a particularly bad match (although in the opposite way - darker instead of lighter), there is a strange form of consistency in this.

That top left green is definitely not the same green as the other tiles.  Perhaps it's something to do with the flash.

My messed up edition was printed as a Z-man edition, but I have a feeling it isn't, if you know what I mean.

Maybe when you get time you can photograph some of the mentioned tiles next to each other

This is totally unrelated, but the first thing I saw was the double-sized tile with a "+4" on it. All of a sudden, UNO comes back to haunt .

No, the Festival tiles are definitely the odd man out. And it's not just an artifact of angle, lighting, parallax, whatever; we'd see some kind of gradient effect if it were. HiG just doesn't seem to be able to keep their colors consistent; I have about five noticeably different greens across my tiles from over the years.

If you ask me, I would say this slight difference in grass color make it quite easier to put back every mini expansion in its place after every game.

We are currently playing with the Leipzig, Labyrinths, Inns & Cathedrals, The New Festival and Watchtowers (all in the new art - and not so much I know ) and it's quite easier to differentiate them from the base game without being uglier or worse in comparison. I really enjoy the different gradients. It makes the final map more organic and alive.

To each his own. For me it makes the map less organic, by highlighting the artificial square grid.

My garden has at least 5 shades of green grass in it, so I let any colour matching pass me by

I love being colourblind.  I don't even recognise Green properly!  There are many other things of greater import.
