The official ruling from Hans im Glück is "Try to think while playing. Players may have an unfinished River...but it‘s their own fault."
On one website I have found some advanced River rules with many examples. Amongst other text there is one interesting statement:QuoteThe official ruling from Hans im Glück is "Try to think while playing. Players may have an unfinished River...but it‘s their own fault."Where does this rule come from? Is it really "official"? If so, this must be included into CAR.
It's quite tactical not finishing the river. Especially in a 2-player game because it may change who get's the first/last card of the game.
Yes, we have a precedent already

I think this would be impossible. in the Dutch rules they mentioned that you never may make a U-turn. Then it's impossible to not finish the river.
Question: With the U-turn rule when making rivers, does that mean no U-turn ever, or just no immediate U-turns because it will complicate the placement of subsequent river tiles? Answer: Only immediate U-turns are explicitly forbidden. (Naturally there can also be problems if a straight river tile lies between.)
