Thanks Kettlefish - double landscape tiles - it's like the opposite of half tiles!

I'm quite happy with the 3 points; looking at the table it's quite clear who has won the most games. If it leaves room for to handle the extremely rare chances of a draw, then great.
I'm totally against using solely points differential I spent most of the competition making up for one bad game -191 i think. Edit: not sure why it's not 2 points for a win (1 point each for a draw) 5328

Reviews & Session Reports / Re: First game with Carcassonne: the Castle« on: February 07, 2015, 09:30:56 AM »
Another great review, I can't wait to pull out my copy of Die Burg and give it a spin!
I did find this image: https://www.flickr.com/photos/p-m-m/4252681752/in/pool-board-games/lightbox/ Looks to me like there's a much larger spread of tile types than regular Carcassonne. I found this link too which might help, half the story anyway: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carcassonne-The-Castle-Board-Game-Replacement-Castle-Tiles-33x-Lot-of-33-/351043677809 Looks like you need to do some photos 5335

It's very pretty. Rather than clutter this thread, I've written a preliminary review over here:
Basically Wooden Big Box I need to get some tiles in it now! 5336

I think this is one of the most difficult game elements to balance strategically. In theory it should make you ask some interesting questions.
In a 3 player game, how many points would Player1,2 or 3 get with tileA, tileB or tileC? If you're first to draw you've got a lot of calculations to consider and you have to rely on your opponents inability to score; you can essentially nullify the worth of a card. Consider a slightly contrived scenario where there is a bidding war between two players. is auctioning a Cloister; To it is worth 9 points, perhaps they can play and score it immediately somewhere. may want that tile because they could play it somewhere else worth 12 points. Perhaps it scores 9 and connects a farm. if Bids 4 or Less, should buy the card. will earn 4. will earn (9 -4) =5. If Bids 6 or More, should sell the card. will earn 6. will earn (12-6) = 6. It's interesting if bids 5. If sells. earns 5. earns (12-5) = 7 If buys. earns 5. earns (9-5) = 4. So it's interesting in this example, where a with more to win can pull a 1 point lead by correctly bidding and knowing what could do. It's also good because the cloister worth 9 or 12 points is now reduced to +1 making it less significant. Hopefully, I've not made a glaring error in that! 5338
Leagues (including expansion leagues) / Re: T & B League: Group A« on: February 06, 2015, 03:03:17 AM »
Awesome! I didn't really like the sound of a knock-out phase, because the person who came 16th in the Group stage, could have 4 lucky games and win the whole competition. It's unlikely but might throw things up. But, perhaps the top 4 from both group stages could do a semi and final?

So we're pretty much done!
Well done everyone, in Group A, thanks very much for all the games! what's the plan now - wait for group B to finish and play against your equivalently ranked player? Are we still considering a knockout round afterwards? 5340
Leagues (including expansion leagues) / Re: The Next Expansion League« on: February 05, 2015, 09:35:58 AM »
I'd rather have played a less common expansion, but happy to play anything at the end of the day. I do wonder if perhaps Dragons/Towers/Bazaars would be preferable for 3+ player games rather than 2 players. I'm not sure how the tournament rounds / scheduling 3+ people would work though.
