Decar, thanks for posting! Hopefully my copy isn't too far off, (and others as well)!

I saw the BGG post and some of the video content.

Being a big fan of the game I'm interested in this edition and think it is a nice idea!. My wife and I play with all mini expansions in, including the latest Mammoth and the larger 'Style' expansion. I would hope and assume that these expansion bits fit into the anniversary edition game design.

I think the differences are pretty trivial:
Some spot glossing
Black-chitboard pieces
Those Iron clays do look magnificent.

Stil, it's enough to turn me off. Hopefully no one wants the retail ans I'll find it for $0.75 in a bargin bin... hopefully  :'(

Not to belabour this - here is the latest update form Roxley. There still is hope for a 'complete' copy of the game  :)

We are anticipating that in the North America and EU zones, we will be able to sell remaining Deluxe versions directly on roxley.com later this month. We are hoping to have copies later this year at PAX Unplugged and Essen Spiel; we will confirm these when we can. We have not yet confirmed whether we will have any in Australia/NZ. Unfortunately, we are not projected to have any remaining in the China / Rest of World markets.

Deluxe versions will not go to retail stores unless the retailer was a pledger.

Retail versions of Brass: Lancashire will be in game stores later this month. Brass: Birmingham will be available in September.

100 chip boxes of Iron Clays will be in retail stores and on roxley.com later this month. (30 chip fillout sets are no longer available.)

Later in 2018, we will be announcing details of a Kickstarter for an increased set of Iron Clays, with more chips and higher denominations (compatible with 18xx games)!

Decar, the Lancaster game box is numbered to 20,000 units. So I expect the retail sets to have some differences but I dont know the details. Maybe the numbering will be the only difference  ;D

Possibly the included Iron clays (pictured below) might be the difference! Not sure if you know that both KS box sets include clays (70) and the small box was a top-up of (30) to get to an even 100 units.

Loup Garou (and the other settings) are indeed from Van Rider Games. I think they should be readily available soon!

I've been on the opposite side of the country this last week on holiday and came back to a triple Kickstarter delivery!

The Brass set is spectacular. Just a first class product all the way around. I also got the extra Iron Clays, again the packaging on these is very impressive! One of the best Kickstarters I've had (about 100 projects backed).

Yes, I can say I got a Mint Delivery! Follow up to Mint Works.

Loup Garou is a choose your own adventure Graphic Novel.
It's a 'Novel' take of a choose your own adventure book. There are 4 or 5 titles in all but I just backed this one. If it goes well, I might get a couple more. Really lovely artwork!

Other Games / Re: 10 Games to describe the Hobby
« on: August 07, 2018, 02:47:39 PM »
In describing our hobby I would mention a list very similar to Decar’s list.

Carcassonne
Catan
TTR
Stone Age (also just as likely to at least mention Lords of Waterdeep and Agricola)
Pandemic - coop
Dominion - drafting
One night Ultimate werewolf  - party
Crokinole - dexterity
Alhambra – layered design elements
Kingdom Builder – Area control

For me mechanism was something explored further down the road. I tended to stick to the ones I knew I liked.

In practice I start with a list one step lower than even the examples above. These are less likely to be recognized so that is why there are two different lists. There is a chance that muggles have at least heard the names on the top list!

Maybe this is a different list but in reality my introductory games are more like these:

Tsuro / Patchwork / Kingdomino – abstract / simple tile laying
Sushi Go – drafting
TTR – set collection
Century Spice road / Splendor -
Azul – Abstract. Good to add in some hotness so they don’t feel like they’ve missed the boat
Kingdomino – another simple tile layer
Forbidden Island – coop. don’t know what it is, maybe because it was our 1st coop, we still adore this little treasure
Codenames – party game
Tumblin Dice – party style dexterity game
Diamonds – classic trump style card game

Agree on the box cover, looks great!

Not a bad line up of promos this year. It’s about average for usefulness. I might get the whole package this year.

These are the ones I’m most interested in:

• Spring Meadow, Edition Spielwiese
• Teotihuacan, NSKN & Schwerkraft
• Alubari: A Nice Cup of Tea
• Dixit, Libellud
• Great Western Trail, Eggertspiele
• Keyflower, R&D Games
• Rajas of the Ganges, Huch!

I don’t own these but might consider adding to the collection:

• Mercado, Kosmos
• Luxor, Queen Games
• Carson City, Quinned Games
• Santo Domingo, Pegasus Spiele
• Wildlands, Osprey Games

Not likely to  use:

• Agra, Quinned Games
• Carthago, Game's Up & Capstone Games
• Crisis, Ludicreations
• Das tiefe Land, Feuerland
• Die Burgen von Burgund, Alea
• Elfenland, Amigo Spiele
• Ground Floor 2nd Edition, Spielworxx
• Gùgōng, Game Brewer
• Krieg der Knöpfe, ADC Blackfire
• Menara, Zoch
• Outlive, Pegasus Spiele
• Penny Papers Adventures: The Temple of Apikhabou, SitDown Games

One of only 2 boardgames set in Wales... how could I resist:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nskngames/snowdonia-deluxe-master-set?ref=carcc

I'm in as well.

Have always been curious and had earlier passed up on a fairly pricy copy of the Indie Boards and Cards edition that included a mini expansion. I did like the Klemens Franz art in that copy but hard to pass up on the massive bling in this version!

Anything Else / Re: I love the local store...
« on: July 24, 2018, 04:15:39 PM »
I brought this to work and just played it a couple of weeks ago for the first time. It was enjoyable at 4 players but it is a little on the light side. Good for that group and timeframe but I look forward to adding the expansion: Capitals and hope it adds a bit more meat!

The banter back and forth is the best part of the game. I had to campaign with one partner for a tile and there is some chirping back and forth but that is the point of the game  ;D

It might not be for everyone but for such a short game there is plenty of player interaction!

Another question from you all:

In general terms what do you expect from your FLGS when it comes to your connection with gaming?

Not sure this is answer is inline ... with some added comments on the FLGS experience.

I think they can take a page from the new plethora of Board Game Cafe's. The later seem to offer more direct service with the games. They tend to be more active with demos and on hand staff to help introduce games; Game Gurus, etc. They tend to have more staff, especially of the 'friendly' variety!

A good thing I see in my area is available room. With almost all local stores there is lots of tables for self directed play. Again the key here is that they tend to not be organized in any real way, with maybe the odd ad hoc incentive. The staff are generally knowledgeable on games but I do tend to see they steer you to what they like rather than really digging into what might more directly interest you.

I wish out FLGS held more tournaments, in any fashion, local, regional national, etc.

Along the lines that aenima mentioned. I think some of the models coming out of FFG and Wiz Kids with tournament kits can be a good incentive. As I understand the way this works, the stores don't get the kits unless they have an organized play system or adopts the system from the Vendor.

After that rambling maybe this Organized Play model is the way to go. (I must admit that I have never participated in these and don't have much inside knowledge of how these actually work).

 :(

Sadly, still no Essen this year, (though we do have a nice trip planned for the fall for an in-laws wedding).

My wife is up for a trip next year! I hope to do a Carcassonne - Essen pilgrimage :)

Still a just a dream at this point! Hope all 2018 attendees have a great time!!!!!

Carc is usually my gateway intro game! It was the first one I brought to work when I formed a group two years ago. I think we are almost up to 50 unique titles I've taught. We have the odd repeat when time is tight but Carc hasn't made it back in a while. Part of it is I don't enjoy this as much at that count.

I am happy to say I created a new 'hard core' gamer from the group and it was the 1st game he bought. I think his collection is near 40 - so my job is done  ;D

Though I am always looking for new converts  >:D
