final game of round 2 for me was a win against Daromar 173-149.   played very differently to first two game.  the german cloisters didn't appear till later and the large maple was more of a factor I felt.  no farmers were played until make 30/40 tiles left.  I played in such a way that 2 of my own men were potentially trapped in exchange for potentially trapping his large meeple which I think might have been was just swung it as I was able to get my large meeple into a field near the end.

UNSTOPPABLE

Finished my game with StartPlayer.

This was tough and very interesting game, there was a lot of moments to think quite long.
We both started with many small cities. Whole game we had +- equal points count.
Then it started changing by +~20 point to me then to StartPlayer when we tried to connect or win that huge farmers field.
At the end StartingPlayer has won this field, but it did not give him the game win, because after he placed his last worker,
we had 25 tiles left and I still had 2 workers to play with. After he won the field, we had 16 tile left and score was 110 : 113, I was losing,
with my last worker I gain those 37 points during 8 moves and won the game.

Thank You StartPlayer and good luck in next rounds.  :violet-meeple:

 :violet-meeple: Skane (147) :  :red-meeple: StartPlayer (119)

I pretty much agree with this analysis.  I've found these expansions its been harder to trap.  with so many small cities at the start I went into a farming war much earlier than I would normally.  My other mistake was not getting a maple back when it would have extended Skane's german monastery.  as he said committing to the field and running out of maples was my downfall.  well played.

Played game against Clownfeet which I lost 207-149.

Was an odd game for me.  Usually I like to trap maples and didn't catch a single one.

In the end it looked like it was coming down to the big farm but my double maple never got it.  the tile I needed went to clown feet with 4 tiles to go!

enjoyed the game and chatting as it turned out we had met previously at the UKgames expo.

Thanks Start Player, well worth checking your forum settings so you get an email for every post.

I'll send some PMs out this evening to get the ball moving again :)

I've got alerts set up for PM's which is what alerted my.  Had been checking forum intermittently.  rules read now and messages sent though.   Turns out its only Wind Rose I've not played before.  Inns and Cathedrals I know well.  Others I know i've played once before but not any tactics for them.  I'm not usually a huge fan on cloisters so should be interesting.

tonight stars aligned and myself and Whatif played the last game in our group.  He won convincingly 101-76 points.

At start of game I thought I was doing well having trapped several of his men in cloisters and roads and we were roughly equal for what was becoming a large field.  mid game he did a good job of protecting a large city in the west but I drew the CCFF tile that splits cities.  I decided to finish both cities which gave him an extra 8 points.  I felt with length of game left he would get the tile he needed to finish it.  However giving him the maples back at this stage was my undoing and a battle began for control of the large field which untimely I lost.  Looking at scores I think he still would have just pipped me even the field was a draw.

Thanks for info.  I've found a little under 1500 and hadn't heard the term.  I've a caching friend from Czech who told be about little wooden collectable disks in caches I've never seen in the Uk.  I've hidden a fair few caches in Leeds included a few puzzles.  Maybe I should think about a carc themed puzzle.  Numbers based on scores perhaps?

I didn't realise there were so many other meeple travel bugs out there.  I'm assuming Pathtag is the same as travel bug but just a different term on each side of the Atlantic?

Will have to look at them all and see if any close by.  My trackable meeple is currently in Portugal and would like to get to Carcassone!

as you said, incredibly close. at least I made no mistakes this time. dont know what I could have done better, prevented a lot of meeples from locking and additionally building useful advantages with these tiles. in the end it was your smart move with the farmer and the very last tile that secured you 2 points and the win (a street would have been 0 points), although you were in front most of the time so I didnt expect it to be so close at the end. thx for playing Startplayer.

Daromar, how about our game, which time is it possible for you?

I really wasn't sure about that move with the farmer at the end as it was my last meeple.  I think I was also fortunate you didn't get the tile to finish the city in North that got you 3 points.  I could see that around it getting longer and too and just hoped it didn't finish.

just played another group B game.  This was against Adrornalin.  I won with an incredibly close score of 75-74.  took screen shot at too large a size to post so had to shrink it a bit but info still readable!

First game down.  I've played Daromar (his user name on JCZ being his name not this username) in group B.  screen shot of final score attached.  I won the game 106-77.  If this all I need?

Just saw tweet from Carcassone Central about a new players tournement.  I play carc and many of its expansions/versions regularly as well as many other games.  My current addiction is 504 and trying to learn the rules for every game of that of by heart.

I'm interested in joining a new players tournement.  Hopefully I'm not too late!
