Here are two questions regarding the bets, the expansion itself, not about interactions :
1. On which tiles does the betting office separate fields fields ? Some are clear, having a green area all around the office, but some aren't...
2. For final scoring, how do we choose which city/road we want to score ? All of the players have to agree ? This seems messy, if there's a 6 tile road and a 4 tile city, a player did bet 4 and another one did bet 6... Fight, the one who survives gets to choose >:D

When I typed up the rules on Wikicarpedia, I got the impression that the active player chooses which feature to score first?

During the game yes, but at the end of the game there's no active player anymore? Or is it the last active player who gets to chose?
-
Oh, and thanks for adding the rules to WICA Scott, merit from me :yellow-meeple:
-
The whole thing confused me. In the example, the bets are on a city tile rather than the bookmaker tile.
Maybe the active player picks a feature when the bookmaker tile is placed and the bets are placed on that feature?

The bets are placed on a betting office. The betting office may affect any of the roads or cities on the tile.
During the game, the active player will decide which completed feature is the one affected by the bets, if more than one was completed by the tile placement.
The issue is that the same situation may happen at the end of the game: several incomplete features may be affected by the same betting office. In this case there is no active player during the final scoring. Should the last active player decide in case of conflict?

Seems a very odd expansion.
Why are there betting chips on the city tile in the example rather than on the betting office tile?

Makes sense to me.

The prerrogative of the last player placing a tile...
TO-DO list:
- Score big top on its last position
- Serve as decision arbiter to score all the bets remaining on the board
- Sponsor a last round of meeple deployments from the city of Carcassonne
- Remove remaining castle lords
- ...
- Have fun!

I played with the expansion yesterday and we forgot to do it at the end, we thought it didn't trigger anymore
But quite a blanck expansion, not really bringing anything fun to the game. Tiles are quite nice though, configuration wise.

No fun with this expansion? Another useles expansion?

Puzzled why Cundco printed the rules sheet for The Bets on full A4 paper since that makes it larger than a Carcassonne box. :( Going to reprint from the pdf on their website and shrink it down to A5 to make at least the height consistent with The Peasant Revolts and The Signposts.
-
Yes, that was annoying. I had to put the rules sheet in my C3 Big Box instead of the 20th Anniversary box where the rest of my C3 rule sheets are kept.

Better print the WICA rules (https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/The_Bets) ;)
-
Or just use WICA. Printed rules become obsolete as new clarifications are added.
