Title: BGG Geekmarket is closing - Historical Carcassonne Sales Data
Post by: Willem on August 10, 2022, 05:46:48 AM
This morning we heard that the BGG Geekmarket will be closing from the 1st of September.
By the end of September, all the historical data will be gone from it.

Not only was the BGG Geekmarket great for buying/selling stuff, it was also an often used reference for prices.

To retain some sort of reference, i have done a data scrape from the BGG Geekmarket, and have made a file that can be found in the download section here  (https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=669).
This contains most(?) of the historical sales data of Carcassonne items on the BGG Geekmarket.

There might be some things missing, but at least it's a good start as reference document :)
Do note that some sales might be looking weird, due to bundle sales, as well as some items are not differentiated between C1, C2 or C3.

It's an end of an era.

It looks like they'll be supporting people listing items for sale through the forum. Which was always their concern anyway.

It's very sad to see it go, because I've used it to list, and buy many items, and it's always been pretty simple to use.

Great job Willem! As I said on the annoucment topic, this was a heroic deed on your part :(y) What about the few extra sales that will happen until the GeekMarket shuts down?

Who knows?
I might do another data grab, maybe someone else will?
We were talking about it on discord and it seems some others would be up for doing it as well.

It only took me about an hour to make this first file, so even if I decide to do it again just before it's removed, it won't take long to make

The Museum can become a vault for unavailable info too. ;)
