A user on BoardGameGeek has reported that a new, presumably promotional expansion named "Die Märkte zu Leipzig" (The Markets of Leipzig") will be released at the Leipzig game fair in Late September-Early October. It will also be available at the Essen Spielfest and eventually on CundCo.
No further information is available at this time.
Information is from user Simon "LaPorxada" Wölfl.
True but that wouldn't be the signed version.I'll sign it for you, no problem ;)
So the only differences between the two are the signatures and five extra followers (presumably just standard meeples)? I seem to be in the minority here in not understanding the appeal of signed tiles, but I'd rather have the Essen version if I were interested in new art.Jungleboy, I had the same thoughts as you. After asking on CarcF, I've been told, that the signatures and the five standard mepple will be the only difference (maybe also the package size). So if someone isn't too hyped about signatures and CundCo offers the expansion after the fair, that person will be able to get his own "deluxe" version by ordering five extra standard meeples in addition to the expansion. :D

Looking forward to seeing how much the signed ones go on eBay for... ::)Oh, yes. I second that!

Probably they will come from the lot labeled "Sorry, limited. We can't give a way some copies for the two forums." 8)
And I wonder whether the Dutch and Japanese quasi-cloisters were ever a Tour thing or just a purely Cundco thing. So any clarification on the facts would be appreciated.
The Windrosen (1) had its debute in 2012 at the Leipzig fair.
Thanks guys, but I think I should have stated my question better; sorry. Based on the information I could find on these forums, I already knew that WR-I debuted at Leipzig in '12 and ended up in the Cundco shop in '13, and that WR-II was in Spielbox in '13. I also read that WR-I was a (the first?) CoT promo — but I have not been able to figure out the actual timing of the CoT series. So here are my specific questions:I realize these distinctions may not matter to anyone else, but CoT is a column in my spreadsheet and I just want to tag the sets correctly.
- Was Wind Roses I officially for the 2012 Carcassonne on Tour, the 2013 Carcassonne on Tour, or both?
- If it was 2012 only, then what was the 2013 promo for CoT?
- Is the 2017 Carcassonne on Tour promo the Market of Leipzig, or is it something else, or is there just not a 2017 CoT promo?

The Windrosen (2) from Spielbox came with Issue #5 in 2013

Just an idea: Maybe you could email Udo Schmitz directly. His email is public and can be found here: http://www.carcassonne-on-tour.de/anfragen/

HiG have made a post on Facebook regarding the new expansion. It is coupled with an expansion for Amazonas, and the box it comes in is only available at Leipzig and Essen. They do confirm that the expa(s) will be available via cundco later!
Given this is a replacement start tile, do Dragons and Flyers move across Leipzig like it's a single tile?

Still trying to figure out what Leipzig is doing in the middle of the French countryside. Maybe this game takes place during the years of the Napoleonic Empire...?
I believe the correct term is "catapulted the meeple" but you are indeed correct. But anachronisms are one thing—actually putting an entire city in the wrong country is just ridiculous. For the record, though, I am such a Carcassonne-whore that I'd probably by Bigfoot and the Space Hookers of Proxima Centauri. Heck, it'd probably be better than Star Wars Carcassonne.Still trying to figure out what Leipzig is doing in the middle of the French countryside. ::shrug:: They already jumped the shark by populating medieval France with a bunch of Japanese temples, circus ringmasters in 18th-century attire, the 21st-century Darmstadtium ... the game's theme is so corrupted by now that Expansion 11 might as well be Bigfoot and the Space Hookers of Proxima Centauri.
Du kannst „Die Märkte zu Leipzig“ auch mit anderen Erweiterungen spielen. Dazu wird es von uns aber keine offiziellen Regeln geben.
You can also play "The Markets of Leipzig" with other extensions. But there will be no official rules for this.
Our neighbours on Carcassonne-Forum have a PDF of the rules:

There will be another Spiel'17 tile this year. Like the last 3 years, I suspect it will be available for a very short period at Cundco. Keep your eyes on the forum and hopefully you'll get one :)

Despite most people declaring that they would never have anything to do with any new art Carcassonne when it was first unveiled, it seems everyone is falling over themselves to get hold of a copy of this.
Of course, this requires tiles of the right size to host my conversion, and since the German Castles are now out of print I would naturally need a more economical alternative than $30 on ebay.

The option that got most responses in that poll was for people who would never have anything to do with it though.
Yes but that was my poll and I rigged it so I could vote 32 times.

The Minter isn't quite clear enough in my opinion: Do you score an EXTRA 3 points per pennant, if you are the majority holder?
I like that they've made the decorations from the base game relevant for scoring btw!Me too! ;D
Can we always consider this expansion compatibile with the old edition? There is the problem of the illutrations of the tiles for the farm scoring...
I like that they've made the decorations from the base game relevant for scoring btw!
Well, HiG have solved that problem, by stating it is meant to be played with the base game only. For them the new edition is the normal base game now, so it is not supposed to be played with the old art.
Haha, actually it's worse than that because HiG declared that the old art work was compatible with the new version. Because the pig farms and stables have not been not listed in the Leipzig rules they obviously don't score any points ;D ;D
There is one available on ebay-kleinanzeigen:It is still too expensive for me, probably right after Essen will be easier to find something at fairest price...

I like it that they are announcing some new things in the webshop!
I think I will play that any non-element building within a field (but not towns) can count as features for the sake of the last option in Leipzig.
Yes but that was my poll and I rigged it so I could vote 32 times.
Winner.
Anyway, here's the translation that Google and I collaborated on:
The Markets of Leipzig
Leipzig's fair tradition dates back to the Middle Ages. At the crossroads of the important trade routes Via Regia and Via Imperii, a settlement of merchants and artisans was established under the protection of a castle. Its first reference was the "place near the Linden" in 1015 as "urbs Lipzi". Around 1165, Otto der Reiche succeeded in keeping the market town of Lipz within the city as well as the market law. Thus, for the first time, the annual markets were protected by the state; competing markets within about a mile around the city were pushed back. Privileges such as those of King Maximilian I of 1497 and 1507 promoted the emergence of the Leipzig trade fairs - the city became an international trade fair.
The Leipziger Messe, whose logo serves here as a watermark, has its origin in these medieval market days.
GAME COMPONENTSGAME PREPARATION
- 4 double landscape tiles (marked with MM)
Lay out the landscape tiles so that the four city districts lie together and make the city of Leipzig. In reality, the signpost for Francofortum points to the west, Stettinum to the north, Vratislavia to the east and Roma to the south. For the game, the sequence in which you arrange the quarters is irrelevant. Because of this display, the normal starting tile is no longer needed. If possible, give each player an additional meeple, since they will quickly become scarce in this variant.
GAMEPLAY
The rules for 1. Laying landscape tiles and 2. Using a meeple remain unchanged.
3. By scoring, bring meeples over to Leipzig
From each city district of Leipzig there leads out a road. All the roads which are connected to it offer you the possibility to send a meeple to Leipzig. This also applies to roads that do not lead directly to Leipzig, but which are connected by a road to Leipzig. If you score a road that is so connected to Leipzig and you have the majority, you may choose:OR
- You score the road and get the points for it.
- You send a meeple from the road to Leipzig and abandon the points.
It should be noted:You place your meeple on a district of Leipzig of your choice (it does not necessarily have to be the district to which the road leads). He stays there until the end of the game. You can only have 1 meeple in each district. In each district, however, meeples may be left by different players. The meeples are simply stacked on top of each other.
- If you have several meeples on a road, you can only send one of them to Leipzig. For the other meeple(s), you may take the points for the road. If you send the meeple to the wagonmaker district you get the bonus points (see below).
- If several players have the majority on a road, everyone can choose independently from the others whether he wants to send his meeple to Leipzig or receive the points.
- During a road scoring, the road on the double tile counts as only one road segment.
3. Scoring with meeples on Leipziger markets
If you own a meeple in a district of Leipzig, it will give you bonus points for certain scorings.
SCORING DURING THE GAME
(https://s20.postimg.cc/3tay4gvfx/Leipzig_Cartwright_District.png) Wagonmaker/Cartwright District: During every road scoring
where you have the majority, you get 1 bonus point for each
road tile.(https://s20.postimg.cc/clrws5gkt/Leipzig_Minter_District.png) Minter/Coiner District: During every city scoring where you
have a knight in the city (even if you do not have the majority),
you get 3 points for each coat of arms [a.k.a. pennant].(https://s20.postimg.cc/q1exhlp2l/Leipzig_Bookbinder_Quarter.png) Bookbinder Quarter: During every scoring of any completed
cloister (even one of an opponent) you get 4 bonus points.
The bonus points for these three scorings are available only for roads, cities, and cloisters completed during the game. During the final scoring at the end of the game, no one receives these bonus points.
SCORING AT THE END OF THE GAME
(https://s20.postimg.cc/jq9q16nu5/Leipzig_Tanner_District.png) Tanner District: During each farm scoring at the end of the game
in which you have the majority of farmers, in addition to the
normal points for cities, you get 2 points for each stable (cow,
donkey, and pig) and each farmhouse that lies in the farm.

Note: The city of Leipzig also counts as a completed city during farm scoring.
This expansion has been developed for the CARCASSONNE basic game, the rules of which remain unchanged. You can also play "The Markets of Leipzig" with other expansions. But there will be no official rules for this.
Acknowledgments | "The Markets of Leipzig" was created on the occasion of the modell-hobbyspiel 2017 and will be presented there for the first time. We would like to thank the Leipziger Messe for allowing the use of the trade fair logo as an expansion symbol.
