I was reading this on Cundco website: "Therefore, the product will not be produced again in the foreseeable future"... so, basically, they are saying that this mini expansion will only exist in this version, with production issues? What kind of statement is this?

It is still available to purchase through Cundco, so I don't think anything has gone back.
However, they probably will sell out this stock, and will review with the production company to make sure the quality of any next batch is correct.
I think it would basically be a reassessment of the production and quality, which will take time.
They might have a lot in stock, so who knows how long it will be before they've sold it all

Question: is there anything that distinguishes the Spiel 23 tile as C3 over C2? No clipped buildings that I can see ...

The Spiel'23 tile is a C2 tile. We were told that it was printed some time ago, ergo the edition of the tile.

Do you want to order C2 stuff only? If so, these are your options:
* Maps: Taiwan, USA West, USA East, Germany, Benelux, Iberian Peninsula, Great Britain, France
* Halflings
* The Barber Sugeons
* The Fruit-bearing Trees
* The Watchtowers
* Japanese Buildings
* The Spile-Doch! tiles (2 Carcassonne and 2 Safari)
* Any major expansions
* The 6 Tableaux of the Base Game 2.1
* The River I tiles

The other Cacassonne items on Cundco are C3, except for The School and the Starting Tableau which are C1.

Unfortunately I remember now why I haven't ordered from cundco since 2020 - non EU shipping!

I have to say some words about shipping. As I got information from my friends from Germany, that it's law, that as "letter" can be send just letters and documents. Every other stuff, even suitable to send as a letter in envelope including goods, games, Carcassonne expansions has to be send as a package.
This increased dramatically postage fee from Germany outside. When couple of years, letter with 3 minis cost 4 eur, now it was almost 10 for me.

This caused, that I'm making only one order per year on Advent with Spiel tile. If I got spiel tile other way from Essen (thanks @Meepledrone last year) I made order also to get new stuff, and got spiel tile someone else from Slovakia who didn't have Spiel tile to share shipping.

Shipping is indeed a tricky thing, which drives a lot of costs. It is unfortunate that HiG also has to ship everything as parcel.
I have already reduced my Cundco orders, as shipping to the UK is also painful, but even for EU countries and Germany itself it seems to go that way
