Carcassonne93 - This isn't the place to make your entitled claims for clarifications. No wonder HiG are in no rush to answer questions posed by 'fans' in this manner. I know I wouldn't if I was working for them. But I'm not. Regardless, it's also the 2nd time on this thread, that I've said this to you.  This time I've deleted your post.

To be clear you're welcome to post your concerns elsewhere on the forum, where it can be ignored. This thread is currently being seen by a large number of members here and not for this purpose.

Thanks for sharing the news Meepledrone!

There is still confusion in my mind.
I know that any change may be very interesting for some fans but hated by others. That is totally normal, I think, like the green "issue" some years ago, just to mention one example.

However, the badly cut cities detail certainly decreases the aesthetic of the game itself. Even people at HiG considered some months ago, that the badly cut cities was a production problem when I contacted them when Pleasant revolts mini was launched.

I know this detail does not undermine all the cool new stuff presented in this release (seriously, I love the new river double tile!), but why they cut it in that way? is it easy to produce if they cut houses in half? I can see that I am not the only one that complains about this, even Benny in the last post shared by Meepledrone mentioned this, and there is some complains about this in this forum.

Are you, fans, happy with this? Maybe this is our new green dichotomy! I don't know hehehehe

Stay safe!

The cut cities are interesting.  It really doesn't sound like a production issue any more does it.  I think it was deliberate change.

One issue with the old style is that there are one or 2 houses per tile, and in larger cities there are large gaps, or clusters between houses.
A bit like this:

Image from Richard Ware on BGG

This new style supports a busier, more consistent distribution of houses, but on closer inspection there are these half buildings.

I think this base game will be the first time that there are enough tiles to see the effect.  Although Mike's image on CarcF does help.

What I would say is that I wished they chose to do something like Cable Car:

This repetition is a little boring, but I think something like this could have worked for Carcassonne.

Carcassonne20 is clearly meant to have a lot of stuff, and Easter Eggs woven into the art, so hopefully this way of doing it supported that decision.

i would have preferred if they kept "whole houses". C1 cities were empty, yes, but uncut C2 solved that problem already. Cut-off houses are more problems than they're worth.

My point of view is the same as Dino. I didn't like C1's cities having big walls to protect empty wasteland... But C2 corrected this problem with art !  ???

But at least the 20 anniversary edition is still beautiful!  :D

+1 Merit to Decar for managing the forum, thanks!  :yellow-meeple:

Thanks corinthiens13, though I don't accept it too lightly.
Carcassonne is a lot of things to a lot of people.

Some of us like to play, some like to collect, others like to work of expansions and use their creative skills. Others like to analyze interactions so that all cases are covered.  I'm grateful to everyone in this community for their great enthusiasm for the game, even if they don't play that frequently (or even if you're one of those players that likes filling in holes).

It really goes to show how great Carcassonne is; to have developed and supported so many people's passions.  This is why I think this particular rendition is a fantastic way to celebrate 20 years of this awesome game.  A way to celebrate all the things we have (and some of HiG's other great achievements), rather than focusing too much on what we don't have or in this case what we expect to receive.

Not too long to wait now (hopefully), until we have a box of two in our own hands!

Don't get too impatient... The wait is coming to an end. ;D

I'm wondering what other stuff will be released, since HiG tagged on of the sections as Anniversary Products...

Therefore the 20th Anniversary Edition shouldn't be the only product to be released.

This is becoming a huge effort we should thankful for... no matter some clarifications got stalled in the process (@Carcassonne93).

A few questions for the well-informed:

1) Is the English edition going to be available on Cundco?
2) Will the English edition be available at the same time as the German edition?
3) When will the Winter-Edition with River be available from Cundco?

In case it's not clear, I want to order the 20th Anniversary Edition at the same time as the new Winter Edition since shipping for one or two full games from Germany to New Zealand is a fortune either way and hardly a different price, so why pay for shipping twice?

I don't know everything for sure, but from what i understand:
1. No, Cundco haven't even really announced the German edition, but it is likely to be available there very soon. There seems to be some exclusive time for Asmodee partner shops, but not sure how Cundco is planning to release.
2. Unlikely. I've been checking the sites for English editions, and they actually seem to have a release date later in June, or some even July (or nothing). So i expect the English version to be a bit later.
3. Cundco have said they will have it available, "later this year", so no real indication as to when. But as i think it is unlikely that Cundco will have the English Anniversary, it might be tricky to find both in 1 place

The winter edition will probably arrive later, between october and December, when winter arrives. Now is not the time for a winter edition, summer hasn't even started  :yellow-meeple:

From where I’m looking in New Zealand, it’s looking pretty wintry.  :))

Sure, sorry I forgot Earth's basic physic laws :yellow-meeple:

But it isn't winter in Germany. And HiG's sales are probably at least 90% in the north hemisphere  ???

Hmm.

Zman owns the licence in Australia, and probably do ok. But Devir does a fantastic job supporting South American countries!

I think it's unlikely that Cundco will have English copies, but they did have limited English editions of Paleo at Essen last year, so it could happen!
