The next days I won't be able to play, due to the upcoming birthday party of Chuck jr. I guess next week I'll be able to play my two games.
Are there any other expsnsions planed to combine with P&D?

Hope the party goes well! It is just P & D + base game for this league. Good luck!

@Leven and jungleboy: what is your availability like for next week? I don’t think there’s going to be any big rush but hopefully a weekday evening will work for either/ both of you to play our games?

Chooselife, Monwil: Any preference on scheduling a match?
Nights after 21h00 GMT are usually by most stable game hours.
Other hours can be arranged.
I'll be on holidays 1week starting on the 15th and I'm not sure if I'll have access to a proper PC so I'd prefer if we could have these schedule till Thurday.

I'm out for Monday but it looks like Tuesday or Thursday could work. Not sure about Wednesday yet, I have a feeling that I have something on that I've forgotten about...

Congrats to Jere on his win!

It was my first game with Princess in over a month, and nothing worked for me from the very start. I had my 2 meeples blocked very first 15 tiles, and it turned out to be a death kiss. Dragon was totally biased, he always stopped moving when it could help me, but Jere simply drew majority of his tiles. I scored regularly, but I couldn't disrupt Jere's game for one moment. He was flying whole game.

I hope, he'll post score and pics of map.

Hounk and I played our game earlier tonight.

It turned out to be a very strategic game. We fought for ages to gain the majority in the large city in the centre of the board. I tried my best to get a third knight into the city but Hounk blocked it and I lost my second to the dragon losing overall control. As it happended, the CCCC was required to complete the city but I drew it and placed it elsewhere, effectively trapping two green meeples in addition to one of my own. The dragon had gone on a feeding frenzy quite early on, favouring the taste of green meeples initially, but things soon levelled out as black ones were discovered.

We both began a battle to take control of the main farm, which seemed to keep expanding in size (particularly helped with the RCRC tile from P&D with the road tunnelling under the city). Due to our obsession with farming, we both spent quite a long time without any meeples in hand - particularly Hounk as I had one from time to time. The princess tiles didn't really affect things, but the portals did help us both on a couple of occasions.

It was a very intense game and could have gone either way.

Final scores were:
 :green-meeple:  Hounk : 116
 :black1-meeple:  Rich_The_Fish : 147

Thanks very much for the game Hounk, it was very enjoyable and most unexpected as I hadn't planned on playing tonight.

I took a few screenshots as the game progressed. As you'll see, the scoring slowed dramatically with just over 40 tiles left. My score jumped up 31 points after drawing the CCFF with volcano which completed the eastern city which was satisfying. However, if Hounk could have got his now trapped farmer into play before I managed to block it and then place my own which subsequently got stuck then it could been very different. In hindsight we both probably committed too many meeples to farming far too early which severely hampered our scoring and the dragon didn't help by refusing to eat any trapped meeples!

Merlin_89:  139       Jéré:  150

It's true that I had a good start, trapping 2 of his guys (and a third one later) and during the course of the game worked hard to keep the dragon away from them. I even chose to kill of my knight in a nearly finished city rather then free up his trapped meeple. That was a bold move that paid off as I got lucky enough to immediately draw the (quite common) tile I needed to claim back and score the city. Really can't complain about the tiles I got... Indeed, it seemed that life was somewhat easier for me, though if I remember well Merlin built a 30+ pts lead at some point during the game, thanks to his skill to take advantage of the fairy while scoring small features. Considering that he played with a handicap of 2 trapped meeples the whole game, Merlin did play very well.

Many thanks for the game, good luck for your last game in this league!

My biggest mistake in this game was probably placing the farmer in the bottom area of the board on the RRCC, rather, then connecting my 6 point farmer (plus one of Rich's, but it was very likely, that he could connect it on the other side, and he did eventually.) This way, my farmer and thief were trapped, hoping for the second road cloister. (The volcano tile was already gone, too.) I saw this coming, right after I played the tile. And I would have needed in particular the thief back, to have a chance in this game. Nevertheless, awesomely played by Rich, congratulations.

Very interesting game, which I could easily loose, because in the very end of the game I missed Jéré's farm steal coming. I was sure that two SE farmers are stuck, but Jéré proved otherwise. Only big city scores saved this game for me :)

My game with jungleboy:

Go Dragons! :(y) :(y) :(y)

I'm struggling to do this write-up as it wasn't a particularly remarkable game. JB completed a big city, but I got a couple of fairly valuable ones too and was especially fortunate to draw the cccf with Princess when I did as I was able to glom onto JB's city, remove him and complete it in the same turn. :)

JB did a better job of trapping my meeples than I did of his, but I was able to claim one of them back with the assistance of a Princess whilst another stayed down for the whole game despite attempts to claim him back with the dragon.

So in the end, even though I was behind on roads, cities and cloisters (and tied on fairy points), my farmers won the game for me. I placed a lot of them quite early on in the game (early by my standards anyway) but they proved to be critical in my fight to keep the main farm to myself, and I also relied on the 24 points I got from 2 other farms serving 4 cities each.

And finally, it's probably worth pointing out that if the final two tiles had been drawn the other way around, JB could have connected one of his 0-point farmers to the 21-point farm for an equal share of the points giving him an 11-point victory. It was purely down to skill on my part that he didn't get this tile and so couldn't place it as intended... :D

Well played and thanks for the game JB! 8) :(y)

Curt194 - 140 : Aenima - 127

So my game with Aenima was very tense! Through most of the game we were neck and neck. It ended up coming down to the farms in the end which I got the majority on from the last tile, which would have been Aenima's if the tile draws were the other way round!

I also managed to kick myself out of the big city in the top right instead of placing the fairy which thankfully didn't have as much of an impact as I thought it might!

Thanks for the game Aenima  :)

Game MrNumbers vs Merlin_89 is going to be today at 21:00 CET.

Impact of the result could be the following:

If MrNumbers wins:  Not only he becomes the Champion of league but also takes back the Top rank with an Elo of 1386. Merlin goes down to 1381.

If Merlin_89 wins: With a PD of +6 for this game, he will be Champion of the league. His Elo would again go over the impressive mark of 1400 (1411) and MrNumbers Elo's would then be 1356.

Is this enough pressure? :)

Oh sorry, Merlin's PD is currently negative, of course. Funny that it gives mirrored numbers (+17 for the final game and +6 total), that's my poor excuse for not noticing immediately.

Where to begin... Ah yes!

GNARAHGAGHAGEJGGRRMMBLLLL

 :yellow-meeple: Chooselife 169
 :green-meeple: Valheru 132

You might ask yourself why I'm this frustrated? The point difference seems quite substantial. For 2/3rds of the game I felt in control. Meepleshortage was something I had to be careful for because there were a lot of project going on and difficult choices to be made. Then the final third of the game came and boy, did it hit me.. HARD..

First of all I needed one (1!) cloister to get my meeple at the right back but it never came. Chooselife had all the other cloisters in the game. We'll start counting -> 18 points. Credit to Chooselife to create that particular situation of course.

Secondly the city at the top of the screen. Built it in its entirety and I just needed one tile. It came, but it was a princess. And it was Chooselife's turn. City gone, poof -> 26 points down the gutter. Add those with the 18 points of the cloisters and I would have been on top.

The farmbattle was a vicious one. I wasn't very pleased with the concentration of farmers (2 of mine and 1 of chooselife's) on the left of the screen. The dragon came and ate one of mine. I was fortunate to add one meeple in the farm at the end of the game (the bottom one on the right) to secure a draw. 3 each.

But by all means and moans by me, the sore loser, this doesn't mean that Chooselife didn't deserve the win! He played his game excellent and made hard-earned point count. Luck might have been a factor, but most of the time I feel that you earn and enforce luck by your previous tile-placement. All credit to Chooselife. A draw or a narrow loss (for myself) would have been more justified, I feel. But that's a two-edged sword and I would have been bummed out either way. Hard Carcassonne lessons learned again haha.

I sure hope I can secure a top20 spot in my first tournament, a win against monwil is a must!

And to quote Halfling in the chat. 'I never want to see a dragon after this ever again.'  ;)

Words of wisdom, my friend.

My game with Leven:

Go Dragons! :(y) :(y) :(y)

A very close game from start to finish. We both led at points, but neither of us ever managed to build up much of a lead before the other caught up.

The battle for the farm was intense. I claimed it first, and secured it with a second farmer just to be sure. After this, it was all-out farmer wars with lots of very optimistic creative (though in most cases successful) attempts to join the farm from both of us. I threw pretty much everything I had at the farm once we were down to 30 tiles or so to go but kept 1 or 2 meeples back for safety. Leven was slightly more conservative in his approach but ended up losing meeples to 2 cities which prevented him from attacking the farm more ferociously once I'd managed to take it outright (4 farmers against 3).

The dragon hurt me more than it hurt Leven, but wasn't especially destructive for either of us other than the 2 farmers of mine that got eaten. I wasn't counting the tiles very closely, but I could see 11 dragon symbols on the board towards the end of the game and so was expecting there to be one more as I knew there were 12 in total. As it turned out, Leven was expecting exactly the same thing, but both of us had missed one of the dragon tiles that had already been placed as it had a meeple on top of the dragon symbol! So, while we were both surprised about this, it didn't affect the outcome of the game and despite Leven's small lead at the end of the game + 3 incomplete cities, the 33-point farm was what won the game for me.

Very well played Leven. I hope your game with jungleboy is as tense and enjoyable as this one was... :) :(y)

Well done Dan on securing 4th place in the tournament. Now Leven and I will play a winner-take-all game for 5th place.

And I managed to claim 5th place through another very tense game. The key for the comforting point difference was that this time I was able to not lose the battle for the main farm (it was tied with 3 farmers each). Jungleboy would have needed an FRXX tile to join another farmer (at the bottom left corner), but there was only one of that kind within the last 10 or so tiles (but of course neither of us knew that), and that one luckily came to me.
Princesses and magic portals were also in favour of me. E.g. once jungleboy successfully glommed into my quite valueable city (at the bottom right corner), but a few tiles later I could remove his knight with the help of a princess.

Well played, jungleboy, thanks again for this exciting game.

Final result:

 :green-meeple: jungleboy vs  :violet-meeple: Leven 116:145

Well, I finally got the Dragon off my back, and won a game with P&D.

Played against ny1050220, and had an interesting game. Took a while before any P&D tiles appeared, so much so that I thought I may not have checked the right box when setting up the game.

It was a reasonably even start, with us sharing a city (ny actually had more meeples, but a hungry dragon saw to that), until he got the last tile that included a princess. That gave him 32 points. Things stayed like that, until I got a 22 point city in similar a situation. I drew the princess tile to finish the city, one that we each had a meeple in. Went to click to remove his meeple, and nothing. It would not be moved. Fainally, ny pointed out it was on the cloister, not the city itself.

The end of the game was a bit of a drag race for me to get the advantage on the big farm. I managed to squeeze ahead there, and managed to eek out a win by completing a city and road with the last tile.

A fantastic game with kettlefish this evening, it took almost 2 hours!

The game started very cramped and I got very lucky with all the City Caps.

I also attempted to glom onto a large city kettlefish was winning.  She first used the princess, but I got my 1/2 back.  Then I used a princess to take her half and then I used the princess-splitter CCcF to complete that 1/2 of the city.  Then kettlefish used another princess to steal my half from under me!

I was edging ahead with points, but kettlefish was always close behind.  It was going to come down to a large farm.  Only one RRFF remained, which we both needed to join the farm and take the majority after the Dragon had eaten Kettlefish's farmer.

Just before the end of the game kettlefish laid the Volcano-FRFR tile next to my farmer.  I had to move the dragon but decided to attempt to glom onto the farm underneath kettlefish with the Dragon-FRFR.  I moved the dragon away from my farmer. but Kettlefish got the tile she needed to give her the lead.  But on my penultimate tile I drew the CRFR tile to glom my last attempt onto the main farm.  This secured the 24 points I needed for Victory!

Decar: 194 v Kettlefish: 178

A very close game, thank you so much for playing this evening!

I lost 159 - 149 to JMA03 last night.

A very enjoyable game that could have gone either way.  I used the Dragon to scare off as many red farmers and monks as I could but I just couldn't get the knight in the big city.  However, 2 princesses did lure my yellow knights away.

I had great tiles and still lost.  Cest la vie.

D5 - Decar / kettlefish
Yes the game play was great. I had not much luck with cities even in the first half of the game. I build many roads. We both build only one cloister. The magic portals - hmm I think I've got 2 or 3 tiles - but each time there was no feature to go to the portal for me.
The Princess did her job sometimes for Decar and sometimes for me, but Decar got more of the Princess tiles an used them also to expand his cities. The dragon ate my 2nd meeple on the big farm were I had a long time during the game the mayority - and then the fight for this farm starts. We both got the mayority of this farm, but I didn't have enough other points - that means - Decar won the game almost at the end of the game with one of the very last tiles.
Thanks for the game Decar.

Despite of the loss I have enough PD to become a P&D League winner!
Great and very nervous game it was! I think crucial tile of the game was cfrr with portal on the north. With this tile I took off 6 points from Merlin_89 and took the road with 9 points, which I completed in the next turn with the fairy.

I have just finished my competition.

I played Chuck in the wooden spoon group, and am finally sorting this P&D malarkey out.

It was a close game throughout, with from memory the gap never exceeding 20 points.
The dragon left the game quite hungry, with only a few meeple eaten. The princess must also have been unglamerous, as she did not steal many knights either.

I still forgot to move the fairy a few times when completeing features, but at least I did it a few times.

Final score was Andrew the Ambo 154: Chuck 149

Good luck to Chuck and ny1050220 for the final game in D9.

It was a fun game and once again, I lost due to my farming....
We were very even, I got ahead of Andrew by 20 Points, but in the End he got lucky with some tiles.
In the beginning, I used the Fairy quite often, but mid-game, I often tend to forget her. The Princess mostly came at the wrong time with the wrong tiles for me, so I hardly could use her.

Finished my games for this league with a match against Monwil. Due to serious technical problems (no idea what the cause of it was), we had to start over once (Monwil was leading by 20-25 points, early game), and a staggering 2,5 hours later, I managed a win.

 :green-meeple: Valheru: 183
 :red-meeple: Monwil (Monica): 140

Due to all the breaks and the difficulties, I can't really breakdown the game anymore. Think the turning point was the city on the bottom right, which I managed to neutralize with a princess and steal it a couple of turns after.. Dragon was VERY hungry for red meeples at first and afterwards a few green ones as dessert. The farmbattle was exciting with some strong lategame action by Monwil. A tie on the mainfarm seems fair in that regard. Focussing on completing some long roads earned me some extra points as well.

Thanks again for the game, Monica!

Glad I won but shame it had to happen this way (with technical problems).

143 - 137 per the game.

The game was interrupted.   Dan kindly hosted the game, and tracked missing fairy points.  He counted +9 for each player, so the corrected final score is 152 - 146.

Group D4
:red-meeple: khalidqasrawi: 166
:black1-meeple: Aenima: 121

The game started without any dragon.  First a battle for a city which ended once we required CCCR tiles for it, all of which were already out leaving a few meeples stranded.  The dragon was never sent in their direction so they stayed stuck to the end.  The next battle was for the bigger city which Aenima looked dangerously close to finishing on a couple of occasions.  The princess tile never seems to work for removing a lone opponent meeple and a series of them failed to get me control until I finally used the CCCF princess tile to simultaneously remove Aenima's meeple and join mine on.  The third major battle was for the main farm.  It was equal from early on but then as the battle began, I was able to keep the upper hand.  The dragon was always present during that play and I was frequently just a bad tile draw away from losing it.

Good game: thanks Aenima.

Curt194 :blue-meeple: 173 | Khalid :red-meeple: 161

I had my game with Khalid earlier today. Had to rush off after the game so hadn't had time to sort screenshots etc until now.

A very close game throughout, we were nearly level for a large portion of the game with Khalid just ahead towards the end. There was quite a tense battle for the farm but Khalid had a few meeples trapped in cities which gave me the edge to secure the farm. In the meantime I managed to join the city at the top of the map to equalise some points, we actually scored exactly the same for cities in total! The dragon didn't get a lot of dinner this game although the threat was very much present.

Thanks for the game Khalid!

Happy to say Quevy and I were not the last to finish!

A very tough game for Quevy, I managed to draw all but the last FFCC tile, which quevy needed to finish a tiny city.

I managed to eat 3 of Quevy's farmers and at least one knight.   2farmers and 1 knight on the same turn!

We had a great farm battle,  I left the one on the right late.  I always forget about that pesky tunnel!

Quevy's hard start made it difficult for him to score enough points to win the game.  I suspect another 20 tiles or so and the tables would have turned entirely the other way!

Decar: 174 , Quevy: 133

Also the princess did her job. Quevy put my meeple away from a city and I didn't get the right tile. Later, when I put a meeple from quevy away from a city through the princess. He got the right tile (as always) in his next turn and claimed back that city.
When I've got the magic portal tiles - I can't do with them much - without a meeple in my supply...
Quevy blocked many of my meeple, I had not much chance, but then almost a the end of the game he did some mistakes - he placed 2 meeple as farmer in the hope to come into that farm, but it didn't happened.
I've finished my road - the meeple was the half game on that place and I had the choice to place that meeple on a city with 5 points - my last tile.

This game ended as we played - in a tie: 136:136

Thanks for the great game quevy.

A draw - that's an amazing thing to see in the Princess and Dragon.  It must have been a very close and tense game!

You're right. I'd forgotten about that.

What is with the last game in D6 group: Carcking against Rosco?

I'm not sure. There was talk on email that it might have been today but both have been quiet so far today.

I sincerely hope that we won't have to dust the guillotine at midnight* tonight.

And finally...
Carcking 188 <> Rosco 166

Well fought by Rosco with a 2 trapped meeple differential. A mistake late in the game with the dragon had me scrambling to secure the farm. We had a very active dragon in this one.
