Title: newbie question about scoring
Post by: ngkeith on April 20, 2015, 07:56:15 AM
Hi new to Carcassonne.

When I place a tile (without needing to add a follower) to complete a feature (whether is  City, Road or Cloister), I score points. At this point, can I put a follower to the other feature of the same tile?

Thanks

Yes, this is absolutely legal thing to do.

Yes you can, as MrNumbers said.

The next step after placing the tile is what we usually call the "move the wood" phase, which is when you place your follower. Scoring is the next/final stage. So as long as you have at least one follower left in your supply, you can place this on your tile in the situation you described. But if you don't have any followers left, you can't take the follower you would get back by completing the other feature and place it in the same turn, because placing the follower comes before scoring.

One clarification.

In this case, I would have 2 chances to score. Right?

Yes, you can complete a feature with your just-played follower in addition to the feature you already completed with the placement of the tile, and score them both.

Scoring is the last thing you do. So first play a follower, so first move the wood. Then you score the points and recieve the follower. If that means you finish 2 features then yes you can score 2 times.
