JCZ 3.1.1
« on: March 05, 2015, 07:30:18 AM »
There was no announcement here, but when I started JCZ 3.1.0, it told me there was a new version available.

I downloaded 3.1.1, and have installed it on all my PCs and my server.

farin - can 3.1.0 play with 3.1.1?

Also, I am trying to play online, to see if there are any changes, and it is not connecting.  Just sitting there, saying "connecting" for far, far too long.  Has the server been upgraded to 3.1.1?

It is probably a problem with the server. I can't connect either, now. But Rosco and me had an online game last night with 3.1.1 running on both computers and it worked flawlessly.

rfielder: you probably tried to connect first day when there was server and no upgrade message. Now it should be ok. So answer is, server is 3.1.1 compatible.

Abou second question 3.1.1 and 3.1.0 cooperation. Answer is now, but next i will consider some solution for such situation. Because i must increase version just because of private games on online server. Technically for direct games there is no change (but protocol version is now same for both)

Anywat I recommend to upgrade, changes:

online play - password protected games support
tile color adjustment (Jozsef T)
updated es translation (outdated in 3.1.0)
error message bar can be dismissed
rotate board (/ key)
right click on board with shift down behave as middle mouse click (center board to click point)
fix: too often AI placement on top of tower
fix: "2-tiles bug" - if playing with GQ11 & King and Scout - at game and counter still shows 2 tiles
fix: can't place on tower if there isn't normal placement possibility
fix: It is not possible to place the phantom as an abbot on a German monastery
fix: checking show farm hints option before game starts is broken

so it's almost all bug reports and easy improvemens from this discussion. (and contains middle button simulation for you :)

farin - very nice job on 3.1.1!

The shift-right click is a bit strange, but once you get used to it, it works.

One issue - the Control screen does not show the keyboard commands.  Isn't this just a text box, that would be easy to update?

Again - thanks for a GREAT job!

FYI - i leave one stupid bug connectef to password protected games in server imple. Now it is fixed which resolves bug when you can't connect and see just "connecting...". I hope it is now stable.

I just tested to play JCloisterZone for the first time and just... wow!

But there was one thing that I felt was missing and that is to be able to set the "speed" of which the computers play their tiles. Because when you play with more than 1-2 computers there is a lot to take in quickly when all computers play their tiles in less than a second.

So some sort of checkbox or slider option when initializing a game would be great for controlling the play speed so you get a chance to see each computers' turn better.

I haven't seen the code so I can't say for certain, but it shouldn't need more than some sort of "sleep" function and an if(comp_sleep == true) {call sleep function;} in the play loop.

Btw, what language is it written in and where can I peek at the source code? :)

Frommarn91, check out "config.yaml" file and alter this setting:
ai_place_tile_delay
