My wife and I are attending a wedding in Mainz Germany so we have planned a six week trip to explore parts of Europe. Here is a loose itinerary. If you have recommendations for things to see & do on our travels, let us know...

2025-04-19 - 2025-04-21:   Edinburgh, Scotland
2025-04-22 - 2025-04-26:   (On a Narrowboat in southern Scotland)
2025-04-26 - 2025-04-28:  Oban, Scotland
2025-04-28 - 2025-05-02:  Inverness, Scotland
2025-05-02 - 2025-05-07:  Speyside Region, Scotland
2025-05-07 - 2025-05-08:  Inverness, Scotland
2025-05-08 - 2025-05-10:  Sheffield, England
2025-05-10 - 2025-05-12:  Ghent, Belgium
2025-05-12 - 2025-05-19:  Mainz, Germany
2025-05-19 - 2025-05-26:  Uncertain at this point
2025-05-26 - 2025-05-28:  Munich, Germany

(Oh, and if any of you wish to travel to Canada, I know of a number of things to see and do in various Provinces so I can make recommendations in return).

Heidelberg is a beautiful city which you could explore (1-2 days would be sufficient) on your way between Mainz and Munich!

Augsburg is a little city west of Munich.
The Augsburg Cathedral has stained glass windows dating back to 12th century

Scotland is very beautiful, we spent there a lot of days. If you have a cas, you can visit Fort William, and the highest peak Ben Nevis - there is also Cable car with very nice view and sheep everywhere

And if you will have a change to go to Brugy from Gent, take it.
