My MacOS version is too old to run JCZ v5.x.x :'(

2
So cool!!!

+1 merit from me.

A number of people have been behind the releases during these years. So some of them work better than others when combined.

We do our best on WICA to keep an integrated picture of the combined rules all these expansions.  O0

It would be an overwhelming work for HiG...

Many retired expansions, too many interactions to keep track of everything...

BTW, congrats on your first post @uroboross88 !!!

Please check this example.

[Q6.1] The red mayor will score 0 points for the completed city occupied by Yellow, as usual. Is this correct?

[A6.1] Yes, the mayor scores 0 points.

[Q6.2] During the final scoring, how many points does the red farmer score?
a) 7 points (3 points for the completed city + 4 points for the castle, since the city overpass/bridge does extend the castle token)
b) 3 points for the city only (the city overpass/bridge does not extend the castle token)

[A6.2] The answer is a)

[Q6.3] During the final scoring, how many points does the blue farmer score?
a) 4 points for the castle, since the "old" city defines the castle borders (the castle therefore borders the top field)
b) 0 points for the castle, since the "old" city does not allow the castle to border the field.

[A6.3] The answer is a)

Castles in C1/C2 were restricted to the castle token. Castles in C3 seem to occupy the perimeter of the city underneath, assuming the "old" city walls. This is important for field scoring as seen in this example.

[Q5] So, the city shown in this example can be converted into a castle and therefore the coats of arms will not be considered for the castle as usual (e.g. a mayor placed in the castle will not score points for it). Is this correct?

[A5] Yes, the city had coats of arms, not the castle.
So the mayor will not score points all in the castle as usual.

[Q4] As a general rule based on Q2.2 and Q3.2, do all "semicircular" cities allow to place a castle token on them even if the city shape has some extensions and reaches the middle of the tile? I'm asking this because a clarification by Christof Tisch on BGG ruled out semicircular cities that would go beyond the area covered by the castle token (they would look like "ruins" from the city underneath):

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/538079/1-question-about-castles

Please check the following tiles (see image above):
* The semicircular city in the C3 base game would go against this clarification and should not allow you to build a castle on it.
* The semicircular city segments on the tiles from Exp. 9 both in C1 and C2 would not allow you to build a castle on them (they reach the middle of the tile and would show "ruins" beyond the castle token).
The same problem would happen with the tiles in Q2 and Q3 above, if this clarification stands for some of the semicircular city segments. However, we know for sure that this clarification should still be applied to city caps with odd shapes, such us the witch hat:

https://wikicarpedia.com/car/Bridges,_Castles_and_Bazaars#cite_note-6

[A4] What Christof said there is not actual anymore.
Even in the base game are now tiles which would have problems with this "semicircular" rule.

Shocking sneak peek at rules changes into Exp. 8 in C3. The limitation affecting city shapes valid to build a castle is going away.

[Q3.1] Does the tile with the lake have 2 city segments separated by a shared wall?

[A3.1] Yes.

[Q3.2] If the answer is yes, can we consider the top city segment a semicircular city segment and place an Exp. 8 castle token on it?

[A3.2] Yes, you can place a castle token there.
In the new Exp. 8, the rules will be more clear.
Every city which is finished with 2 segments can get a castle, no matter what exact shape it has.

[Q2.1] Does the tile with the fountain have 2 city segments separated by a shared wall?

[A2.1] Yes, these are two separate cities.

[Q2.2] If the answer is yes, can we consider the city segment on the right a semicircular city segment and place an Exp. 8 castle token on it?

[A2.2] Yes, you can place a castle token there.
In the new Exp. 8, the rules will be more clear.

[Q1] Does the tile with the water trough have a regular farmhouse?

[A1] Yes.

I sent a few questions about The Summer tiles to HiG and we got the following clarifications.

[Q1] The city occupied by Blue is completed by this tile placement in the example below. Does the completion of the city trigger the scoring of the castle occupied by Red?

Example: the city occupied by Blue is completed and doesn't trigger the scoring of the castle occupied by Red.

[A1] This city doesn't trigger the castle scoring. It's outside of the castle fief.

This means that an Exp. 8 castle will only be triggered by a feature overlapping the 6 square spaces in its fief, no matter the geometry of the tiles occupying those spaces. Therefore, a tile occupying multiple spaces may overlap a castle fief, but any feature completed on the tile will not trigger the castle scoring if the feature itself does not overlap the castle fief.

Official Rules / Re: A question about 20 anniversary expansion
« on: April 07, 2025, 11:49:26 AM »
You mean getting a builder turn (second part of a double turn) as a result of a 20th Anniversary extra turn? This would be possible. It would be similar to getting a double turn when playing an extra turn granted by a message.

The sequence would be like this:
1a. You stat your turn
1b. You draw a tile, place it and activate a 20th Anniversary extra turn symbol (You get an extra turn, and you cannot get anothe extra turn by this method).
1c. You complete this turn as usual.
2a. You start your extra turn.
2b. You draw a tile and place it extending a city or a road with your builder (Your turn becomes double and get a builder turn).
2c. You complete the first part of your double turn.
3a. You start the second part of your double turn.
3b. You draw and play a new tile as usual (no additional double turn or 20h Anniversary extra turn can be triggered)
3c. You end your double and it is the turn of the next player.
