Quote
:red-meeple: Between the 1st and 24th December we will post a small Carcassonne scoring question each day (at a random time), to which the answer will be points scored by one or more players according to the question (and maybe some side questions). Each question will be presented by a member of the Meeple Council, who will indicate the number of expansions but will not participate as a meeple in the scenario itself. Here is a reference:
- Gingerbread Man     1 expansion
- Snowman2 expansions
- Santa Claus3 expansions
- Danisthirty4 expansions
- The Grinch5 expansions (or more, of course :o)

:yellow-meeple: When you know the answer, don't post it on this thread! :-X Because then everyone will know, and we don't want that. Instead, send Meepledrone a PM including the question number and your answer for that day. He won't respond to your PM (please don't be offended), but if you get the answer correct you will win one or more quiz points depending on the question.

:green-meeple: There's no cut-off date for any particular questions so don't despair if you miss any. You can even answer all 24 questions on Christmas Eve if you want.

:blue-meeple: Once Christmas and Boxing Day are behind us, the correct answers will be posted – one at a time – along with who won the points and total scores per participant. Contestants with the same number of points will be sorted by the time they took to respond.  This is where it gets really fun! :o :(y)

:black-meeple: The overall winner will be the person with the most points at the end of the quiz, but there is likely to be a small prize for everyone who answers all questions regardless of whether they manage to answer any of them correctly. It will be a surprise. O:-)

Any questions, please ask now. Otherwise, you can expect question 1 of 24 sometime on December 1st! O0

- The Grinch: Whaaaat? No points boost for players answering first again...
- Santa Claus: Nope. The response time will help resolve ties, but the winner will be the player who answers the most correct questions.
- Gingerbread Man: Of course, the faster the better...
- The Grinch: I hate the idea... Let's do it! >:D
- Chanchito: This is gonna be FUN! Yaaaay!!!! ^-^

9
- Chanchito: Ooooh! I'm so impatient!!!
- Chanchito: Where can I get more info?

Yes indeed!

For those unaware of what it is going on, I will just break it for you: Christmas is coming again!!!

In preparation of the coming events, here at Carcassonne Central, a lot is happening behind the scenes once again. The Meeple Council is in session discussing whether field separation discrepancies between C2 and C3 should be kept consistent with the zodiac signs...

This is just a smoke screen, because the real agenda for today is...

The Advent Calendar Quiz MMXXIV

Stay tuned, because on December 1st Fate will be knocking at your door... Will you be there to open? What surprises will it bring?

Ready or not, the clock is ticking! Can you hear it?

Official Rules / Re: Wonders of Humanity + River or with "personnal" tiles
« on: November 29, 2024, 10:21:50 AM »
Hi all,

Preparing to be a menace for the coming advent quiz, it's time to study the rules!
Is it what I'm doing? Maybe not. Or maybe yes. Who knows?  ;D

Quiz? What quiz? Ha ha ha! >:D

I have 2 questions regarding the use of the Wonders of Humanity with other expansions:

1) Playing with WOH, a River expansion and an expansion allowing to earn points during the river placing:
If we are still placing River tiles, and a player gets a Wonder tile (thanks to points earned with the Abbot or the Shephered for example), does he place it on his next turn, even if River tiles are still possible to draw, or shall he wait until the River is completed, and play it on his first turn after the River is completed?

As expected, there is no official clarification about this case. In order to avoid any conflict with the river, the player should take the wonder during the river placement and keep it their supply until the last river tile is placed. Any player with a wonder tile once the river is completd would place their wonder instead of drawing a normal tile. That is, their first tile during the normal phase of the game after the river would be a wonder tile.

2) Playing with WOH + "personnal tiles" (Halflings, Abbey, Castles in Germany):
With Abu Simbel, when playing with Halflings, Castles in Germany or Abbey, the player has the choice to draw a second tile (and play it or play the one he has already in front of him) or to place one of these special tiles (and keep the tile he has in front of him for next turn), is that correct?

Best regards,

That is correct. If you place a Halflings, a Castles in Germany or an Abbey from your supply, the previous tile you may have stays where it is until your next turn, since you are not drawing a new tile.

Official Rules / Re: Darmstadt Spielt majority

Check how majority, as defined in the base game, evolves as new expansions are added to the game (especially Exp. 1, Exp.5, Exp. 9)...

Quizzes, Puzzles and Challenges / Carcassonne Central: Advent Quiz MMXXIV
« on: November 29, 2024, 09:41:16 AM »
The wind blows... The fields around Carcassonne dance at its will. A distant bell toll can be heard...

Suddendly, an oinky voice resonates all over the empty landscape:
- Chanchito: (echoing) Has the Advent Quiz started yet?
- Tile 1: (from underneath) Will you shut up?
- Tile 2: How dare you disturb our beauty nap!?!?!
- Tile 1: What? You see? Now I will have to treat my whitening edges again...
- Tile 3: Uhhhhhh! That looks terribly terrible.
- Tile 1: :o
- Tile 4: Oh my! What a disaster!!!
- All tiles: (deafening chatter)
- Chanchito: Now I understand why the dragon cannot eat tiles... :-\
- The dragon: (spewing fire from the distance) Ho ho ho! (under his breath) 1... 2.... 3...
- All tiles: (all shut up abruptly)
- Tile 1: Hey you! I heard you...
- Tile 2: Shut up that snout of yours...
- Tile 3: I will kick you with my corner where it hurts the most...
- Chanchito: (stuttering) But I,... :o
- Chanchito: Erhhhh! Time to flee!!! (running away) Ciaoooooooo!
- All tiles: (deafening chatter goes on...)
- The dragon: (Sighing) Ahhhh! Ignorance is bliss... >:D
- All tiles: (deafening chatter goes on and on and on...)

Official Rules / Re: Darmstadt Spielt majority
« on: November 27, 2024, 02:49:40 PM »
This is a very good question!

For the sake of consistency, "the most followers" valid for the base game is treated as the usual extended majority evaluation when involving other expansions that alter the basic definition of majority. This said:
* The large meeple has 2 majority votes (counts as two meeples)
* The mayor has as many majority votes as the number of coats of arms in its feature (city or castle)
* Hills are considered as usual

So, in this case, majority is computed as usual, considering the majority votes each meeple has in its current location. For the time being, the only special case would be acrobats in a pyramid, where each meeple has 1 majority vote although the acrobat space ignores majority.

Hope this helps.
