In this post, CK asked about a colour legend to distinguish member groups.  Since there wasn't one, I created one, go to the forum home board list, you will see the legend at the bottom of the page, just below the Users Online.

The guide starts at the lowest ranking (gray for lurkers and guests) and goes higher (up to admins in red).  I haven't finished colouring the groups yet so if you're in the basic board blue, you will get a custom colour.

OK, what milestones does one achieve to move up in rank?  Also, how does one earn the little meeples under our user name?  I currently have two and you have five.

In a general sense, contributions to the community.  Yes, post counts is one factor, but artificially increasing one's post counts can actually have the opposite effect.

So promotions are handed out, not earned?  Is that right?  Also, I edited that last post to include another question.  I'm so inquisitive!

Certain titles are handed out (ie Author), others are based on post count (ie Cottager). The meeples under your name are based solely on post count. Posting many one- or two-word posts ("nice", "I agree", etc) without actually contributing anything else will attract the attention of meeplebot. Trust me, no one wants to be noticed by meeplebot.

No I don't!

Edit: Oops, that was too short.  I mean... No, I certainly don't want to be noticed by the meeplebot.  Please don't notice me Mr. Meeplebot sir... oops, I suppose it's not appropriate to address the meeplebot if you wish not to be noticed.   I'm not here, you can't see me.   Smiley}

It is going up.  Check your profile info, as of right now you have 109 posts, which is Villein level & 3 yellow meeples (100+ posts).

Very slowly, rarely for each post. if you look below and add up the number of posts per board, you get more than 109...

Then likely it was due to meeplebot!

Thanks, that answers my question very nicely.  Although I'm not sure I want to be a Villein... it looks to much like Villian. Pirate

The interesting thing is that when the list was up to "Duke", Gantry said this:

substitute Vagabond for Villager, and you have the first third of the rankings

If the first 3rd contains 7 entries, then perhaps there are 20 categories altogether and we only know of the first 12...
