Hi treyoshi, welcome to the forums!

The Big Box 6 (2017) is currently the only way to get the minis 1-7 in C2 format so is worth considering for that reason anyway.  Especially if there is any chance you are likely to become a ‘collector’..

I think the jury is still out on whether the UV printing and new artwork count as C2, C2.5 or C3.. I guess it’s up for debate at least until people have chance to compare tiles side by side.

Well actually  :D I would for that exact same reason advise to buy Jubilee 20th Edition, because the exclusive contents of that are way less likely to be reproduced in any other way, and it may dissapear faster than BigBox 6 (If Jubilee 10th was any indication)

WELCOME to the forum Treyoshi!

You are correct, they 20th anniversary edition will be compatible, but the tiles has been refreshed to celebrate 20 years. For example: Some nice flags have been added to the castles, and one tile has a Hans Im Glueck statue in the middle. These embellishments serve no additional function, only decoration.  The UV coating, may be somewhat different to regular tiles, but it's currently an unknown. I suspect HiG will aregue they're compatible.

Comparing Big Big 6 (BB6). Both have exclusive content.  The minis and the 20th anniversary expansion and river tiles. BB6 certainly has more content and configurations for game play. Depending on where you buy it, you'll find The anniversary edition is a similar price.

HiG has cleared out some shelf space for the 20th anniversary edition. Given BigBox6 has been available for quite a while now, I suspect it may become unavailable sooner than the 20th anniversary edition.  But you've got plenty of time to decide!

Good point Dino... I am hoping though that as it appears to be available for preorder from all countries -  except the U.K. so far, natch (slight exaggeration but still) - that it will not be it *too* short on availability..

I’ve noticed treyoshi that you are actually not that new to the forum and you appear to have been considering Big Box 2017 since before it came out... That is some thorough consideration  :) time to buy it dude (or dudette), get addicted, then also buy 20th anniversary and start collecting expansions.. ;D

Haha yes, I guess my first post was some time ago. I have been able to play other copies for the past few years, but at a point that might want to get my own. My hesitation on the big box was if a new art style was coming I would be starting out downlevel. I suppose big box plus anniversary would allow for double base games!

Well buying both is the most safe (and most expensive) option.

Really, C1 and C2 are both better than the 20th anniversary art (C2.2). The C2.2 art is a little too busy with cities overcrowded and spilling over the edge of the tiles.

I suppose big box plus anniversary would allow for double base games!

Agreed, you're looking at good 2 hour games once you get all the components interacting. You'd have a lot of fun and topics without getting anything else.

Besides the overcrowded cities, the Easter eggs on every tile will help you separate base games when mixed. I should confess I committed a terrible sacrilege by drawing a black dot on the tiles of my second base game so I could easily separate them after combining them in large vanilla games.  :o

Now it should seem easier... Let's see if the colors match and all that and if the UV-printing makes them glossier... All those things that may set off the OCD alarms.

For River 1 it was easier, since the base game version has no symbol and the BB6 version has a river symbol. Let's see if the Jubilee River tiles can be separated easily when mixed with the base game version.

For UK residence I've published a list of preorders I've found with rough costings. Hope it's useful.

What about Italy? My salesperson is telling me that the game will be released in every country, simultaneously, probably in June, at 35€...
I’ve preordered it.
