Dice and cards!
« on: October 03, 2020, 01:15:46 PM »
I finally got a copy of Cardcassonne (I know 11 years late  ;D ), getting both Carcassonne dice and card versions. Despite the lack of popularity of both, I must say that have enjoyed both of them.

One thing to highlight about Carcassonne the dice game is the way it fits well into the Carcassonne dynamics --you are building cities. I am not totally happy with the meeple face purpose, but I think is a nice lightweight game. I would have expected that the dice version of Carcassonne was something more like Intramuros PnP game ( https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/315967/intramuros ) or Travel Carcassonne PnP ( https://worksheets.site/travel-carcassonne-game.html ); nevertheless, those are more roll and write and not roll and "build".

Unlike Carcassonne the dice game, Cardcassonne does not have the "spirit" of Carcassonne. It is fun but... Something is missing here in order to fit properly in the Carcassonne experience (without underestimate its creative design).

It is true that most people hate this kind of reimplementation of popular games, but for example what Stefan Feld did with The Castles of Burgundy is pretty impressive.

Any thoughts on how Carcassonne the card game or the dice game would be perfect for you?

Just in case you want to try a crossover variant with CardCassonne cards in a Carcassonne game...  ;)

I enjoy Cardcassonne alot. It is totally different from the tile game and I am comfortable with that. I have played with family members 5 and upwards and it works best with 3 or 4 players.
