I also prefer the C1 version. It seems more logical than a wagon that can suddenly jump. It make no sense.
But I also do understand that they want to simplify the rules with the C2.
True. No sense and easy way to simplify a great idea!  ;)

I learned with CII rules, so that is what I use.
My CARC2 homemade expansions:
