The best thing about Carcassonne is...
« on: June 27, 2019, 02:58:27 AM »
The best thing about Carcassonne is:

- Building meeple pyramids in between turns

- Watching my opponent drawing all of the tiles I desperately need

- Posting a photo of my river placement on BGG to ask if it's valid

- "Thinking" for 5 minutes before doing something exceptionally obvious

- Noticing that I have a meeple sat in a complete cloister still on the board and not remembering whether or not I've already scored it

- Knowing I could have won if only my opponent had drawn my last tile and I'd drawn theirs

Any other suggestions? :))

One more suggestion:

- Spotting a better placement for an adversary (specially against you) and putting your best poker face on while even praising his/her choice.

Another one:

- Waiting for that magic tile that will fill a gap and give you victory... and finally it happens at the very end of the game... BOOM!

- introducing new players and watching them grasp the concept and then get hooked too

So far I have introduced to Neil, Howard, Charlie, Praveen, Martin, Andy, Luca, Clive, Enza, Anita and Michael. A mixture of work colleagues and family members.

That's so cool indeed!

I introduced a bunch of friends to Carcassonne and, after just 6 games, a couple of them were already devising strategies to take over fields in sneaky ways. Awesome!

-  the pet names we give to all the meeples, with highlights of 'Little Chef' (the Builder) and 'Big Legs' (the Mayor)

- how a game with my wife can either be a friendly, chilled-out, tv-on-in-the-background event -building our own little landscapes peacefully.....or a completely cut-throat farm-stealing, city-sabotaging, farmer trapping experience.

-Convert unfaithful hard players in this way: play against hard player who thinks carcassonne is a random family friendly domino ---redacted---- You will make him see the light and you will have a new convert to the carcassonne religion.  O0  :(y)
