We all love at least one variety of Carcassonne. It's so obvious - doesn't need saying.

But there are some less favoured offerings out there.

Please offer support to either if warranted, in your opinion. But fundamentally which is worse :-

1. Carcassonne the Dice Game
2. Expansion 7 The Catapult

I have never played the dice game, so I am not sure how bad it can be. It looks terrible. The Cardcassonne game looks bad too.

The worst I have ever played is The Discovery.

The Catapult is a bad expansion. Is it worse than Wheel of Fortune or Count King and Robber? They are all pretty awful. At least the catapult is fun for kids.

Cardcassonne is actually quite fun (at least in my opinion after one play). But the dice game is indeed terrible. I’ve never actually played Catapult but surely it must be worse.

I think out of the 2 I'd say that the Dice game is my least favourite.
The Catapult does bring some nice tiles to the game, and if you're in a funny mood it can be amusing.
I've only played the Dice game a couple of times, but it seems more like a little short travel game, to kill a couple of minutes, rather than a full game

The dice game does exactly what it sets out to do--it's a light, short little party game. It's a filler. For that, I think it's a fun little game. Obviously it's not amazing, but it's a quick game that me and my girlfriend typically use as a fun "tie-breaker" if we're playing a few different board games and keep track of our victories over the night.

The catapult however I don't think fits with Carcassonne's overall playstyle at all--but really, I think comparing the Dice Game to The Catapult is really apples and oranges. The Catapult is part of a larger idea, whereas the Dice Game obviously stands on its own. They're both serving very different purposes, and the Catapult is a purpose I don't really need served. (That said, if it gets reprinted I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Damn you Carcassonne for being so collectible!)

Interesting that you would buy a new Catapult version even though you don't enjoy it.

I haven't purchased the new version of Bridges, Castles and Bazaars because I only enjoy the bridges or the 3 elements. I wouldn't purchase a new Catapult version either.

Thankfully I played someone else's Carcassonne the Dice Game. I won't be purchasing a copy of my own.

What can I say, I'm a sucker and would buy it explicitly for the physical catapult--it would just be a cool addition to the collection!

And yeah, you're not missing anything by passing on the dice game, it's definitely not great, but it's not pretending to be and it's fine enough for what it is.

I think the Catapult is the less of the evil, so I don't even own a copy of the Dice Game.

The catapult seems an insult to Carcassonne and a mockery to any true fan.
The dice game belongs to the tenth anniversary and as something parallel I find it entertaining for a trip.
When I played the dice I had a good time but when I played the catapult I ended up being very angry and very pissed off.
