So I get 24 flags for $12.99 which isn't bad, but what does the shipping cost?  I am in the US, but most people on this forum are in Europe.  The website won't let me check out as a guest and gives no clue as to what shipping costs.   I hate to say it, but my interest depends on cost.

I have never played the dice game, so I am not sure how bad it can be.  It looks terrible.  The Cardcassonne game looks bad too.

The worst I have ever played is The Discovery.

The Catapult is a bad expansion.  Is it worse than Wheel of Fortune or Count King and Robber?  They are all pretty awful.  At least the catapult is fun for kids.

I like the number of turns doesn't increase, but the size of your kingdom does.  I also like that you can't find yourself with too much money and nothing to buy.

Another expansion came out for Isle of Skye.    The "Druids" expansion has an extra board that allows the players to buy tiles from it after the normal tile buying step has been completed.  More tiles is always a good thing and this expansion has some interesting new tiles.  The backs of the new tiles are totally different so you won't confuse them with the tiles from the base game.  Some of the tiles contain some easy to use special powers and others have new ways to score.  There is a new rule change the allows you to spend 5 coins to buy 2 tiles from the base game bag and choose one to put in your territory.  This sounds exactly like the alternative Carcassonne rules I have seen people use.

Anyway, It is really simple to add this expansion to the base game and I don't think I will ever play just the base game without it.   I feel it is definitely worth the money and I much prefer it to the "Journeyman" expansion.

As far as the Journeyman expansion goes, I like it less and less.  If I wasn't collecting this game, I would probably part with it.

We have played the Circus (AKA Under the Big Top) before and my wife loves it.  The fruit trees expansion works in a similar manner.  There are little disks that contain hidden points and everything works by surrounding the tile.  The similarity made the fruit tree expansion easy to teach.

Review of the Fruit tree:
We really enjoyed the fruit tree expansion.  The points are nice, the game play is fun, and the rules aren't too complex.  I think I would prefer if the selling action was done in a different way (maybe a market tile, when a city with a flag is completed, or something).  The really big down side of the expansion is how dumb it looks.  I know the people of Carcassonne are known for poor urban planning, but building roads right into trees is just silly.  The 2 tiles that do not have roads, on the other hand, look great.

Playing the Fruit tree with the Circus:
While they were easy to play together because of similar rules, the expansions do not work as well together as I would have thought.  The circus tiles and ringmaster meeple score a lot more points than the fruit trees can provide.  My wife scored over 340 points with just these 2 expansions and I believe fruit trees provided her with at most 40 of those points.  I lost badly, but I did score at least 30 fruit tree points.   The Circus is very over powered and it probably becomes less so when you play with other expansions.  We had a few clusters of 3 acrobat/circus tiles in a row.  Closing nearby cities or a small road with the ringmaster gave us 6 bonus points (more than the cities or roads were worth).  It also helped to have some acrobats near the circuses to grab extra points when it moves.

I believe in a game with a lot of little expansions the fruit trees would be a big winner.  You can't easily score 30 or more points with the windroses, the ferries, goldmines, etc.

I wonder if future new art expansions will continue to have the point creep of the Circus and Fruit Tree expansions.

Wow for 26 Euros, I would pick it up and I hate the new art :(n).  I haven't seen it for less than $60 in the US.

I bought a set of blank tiles, wrote an "M" on one of them, put it in the draw bag with the other tiles, and when you draw it select one Market of Leipzig, then toss the "M" tile back into the bag.

I also wrote a "C" on another blank tile and use that to randomly draw and place the Carcassonne city-tiles.

You could also substitute extra Abbey tiles, the Gold Mine scoring tile, or the Festival rules tile.

Good idea!  I will have to give that a try.

I agree with most of what you said.  I actually like the double tiles, but since this can't be placed like the German Cathedrals, I don't know why they didn't make it one big square like the Wheel of Misfortune.  Because they are double tiles, you can't throw them in the tile bag and have the different abilities show up randomly around the board.

My biggest gripe about this expansion is the Amazonas piece.  It is incredibly lame.  I am not sure that it is the lamest around the world expansion, but it is the worst that I have.   Yes, we like new tiles, but noooo we didn't need more river tiles.  Any other tiles would have been preferred.  It would have been really cool if they added a temple, mining, or even something with Brazil nuts would have been interesting.

3. Carcassonne Minis - I more or less consider them as one big expansion. To me most of the mechanics were not fun, not well balanced and added a lot of fiddlines for very little benefit. The only good part were Crop Circles.

Wow really?  I agree with everything else you said, but Mage & Witch, the Flyers, and The Ferries get more play at my house than Inns & Cathedrals.

This is a difficult choice to make.   I may have to agree with you because I didn't even bother buying the 2 new Spiel Doch tiles.  As much as I don't like the Wheel of Fortune and the Count, at least I went out of my way to acquire them.  We will never play with the Wheel of Fortune and Count rules, but we do sometimes use the start tiles, so they aren't exactly useless.   You can play with the phantom rules without actually buying the expansion.  I enjoy the Phantom and own it, but buying it is a waste of money.

A lot of people are going to  :(n) the catapult, and rightfully so, but I much prefer it to Wheel of Fortune and the Count.

We haven't played with the Barber-Surgeons yet, so I can't judge it.  I don't own Darmstadt or La Porxada, but those could be contenders too.

Thanks again Dan.

Next Christmas, I'll have to find a new and exciting way to get negative points. :(y)

orange cloak dude with black belt appears in 16, top centre, same art as 15 top left!

I think I was confused because there is a gold colored cloak with belt guy and an orange cloak with belt guy.  They must shop at the same cloth stand in Traders and Builders.

In the 2016 tile, a bystander has caught the attention of the knight on the left.  I can't tell for sure, but I believe the child is giving the thumbs down.  This could be her saying that the knight should kill the other knight, the duel isn't very exciting, or that the new art is absolutely terrible.

In 2017, this matter is settled as the little girl is making the same gesture.  It is doubtful that the little girl hates airborne donkeys AND duels, so we now can assume she dislikes the new art.

In 2018, the little girl has moved on to other games.

Also, of note the man in the orange cloak with the black belt appears in every tile with the exception of the 2016 tiles.  There are multiple other people that appear in multiple tiles, but he and the girl stick out the most.

One more bizarre tidbit about biscuits.  So my wife brought a cat home a few months ago.  Surprisingly, I did not divorce her for that  >:D.  Anyway, I came home from work on a day my wife stayed home sick. She informed me that the cat "made biscuits" on the bed to wake her up.  Needless to say I was not aware of that colloquialism and thought something completely horrible had happened.

And nobody should start the discussion about the pronunciation of 'scones', as I've witnessed many debates regarding this here in the UK!

I have always heard it pronounced so that it rhymes with bone, cone, or own.
