@BigBoss: because afaik if you bought something from them at Spiel you got one 'for free'; one would hope they would extend the courtesy to folks who can't travel but buy from them anyway (at higher prices than from OLGSs)

Ack!  I recently placed 3 separate orders with Cundco - no Speil '17 tile in the small one (just a sticker) and the other two haven't been dispatched yet ... I hope they're in the "Put Spiel '17 tiles in these" queue ...

Thanks willem88.  I've bough the whole shebang of BB6 and all the expansions I didn't have from Spieloffensive.

I had a look on for 'The Festival' where it's being sold for about $23!   Boy, it's ugly too.

I will keep an eye out for the Leipzig expansion.

Thanks again.

Oh dear.

With the release of the seemingly reasonably-priced new-art BB6 I've decided I have to begin the completionist pathway for the new art.

I've been out-of-touch for a while though, and I'm having trouble working out what else I need to catch up.  I'm only looking for one version of everything - for example if I have I&C in BB5, I don't need it as a standalone expansion.

So, the BB6 contains

Inns & Cathedrals
Traders & Builders
The River
The Abbot
The Flying Machines
The Messengers
The Ferries
The Gold Mines
Mage & Witch
The Robbers
Corn Circles II

I 'accidentally' have:

Spiel 14
Spiel 15
Spiel 16
The Watchtowers
Temples in Japan

so - am I right that I just need to get

Abbey & Mayor
Princess and Dragon
Under the Big Top

and I'm fully caught up?

I vowed not to go down this route ... but BB6 tipped the balance.  Bah!

Many thanks in advance for helping me catch up!

Thanks VM for the clarification, much appreciated.   I think I'll declare R3  "outside scope" for purposes of meeting my completionist aspirations :)

You can make me an offer  for Darmstadt if you like :)

What is River III? Is it in the new art style?    If it's in the classic style I need a copy too!

I struggle to have a favourite BB as I don't own any as I collected all the constituent parts one by one (sometimes several at a time, of course!).  I voted for BB2 as that was the only one that came with River II as far as I could see.

Being pedantic, it's not import duty you are paying there, but VAT.

Having said that, like you I have no issue with paying VAT (after all, we pay it on most things we buy but we don't notice it as it's folded into the cost) but the £8 handling fee really rankles with me too.

Having said that there is some more administration than you mention: inspecting the data about the parcel, calculating the VAT, making the entry to HMRC's sytem, producing the card, receiving the payment from you, accounting for and reconciling the payment, (double/triple) handling the parcel itself though a different channel than 'normal' mail.    One could even say that £8 is a bargain price for that  - but it certainly doesn't feel like it!

It certainly doesn't feel like it when the imported item is of modest value.

I hope they will make use of this extra time to read the comments and contact Doris Matthäus!!
Those were my thoughts too, but they're already printed (else they couldn't fulfill the few orders before they withdrew them). Maybe they'll get her to do a Carclassic version.

Well.  I thought the CarcII art was horrible in the base game - I guess we can see that the expansions will be even worse.  This is an easy pass.  I don't even want to buy a few copies to sell to the Japanese at a profit.

Anything Else / Re: Secret codes of Cundco :)

Right, right?

I have a 'City' in the wooden box available, but shipping to Italy is not cheap from the UK :(

It will probably be best to buy from Germany (as far as shipping is concerned, anyway)

I know, thanks. But I'd rather but just the espansion :-).
I think you will pay more for just the expansion than you will for the expansion + magazine.  also (for the same shipping cost) you can buy some other magazines with (Carc) promos

You could draw their attention to this post on BGG too

The poster is somewhat flamboyant in his language, but if he has been waiting for 6 months for a problem to be resolved, maybe he's entitled to be.  OTOH he has  caused problems in the past even with shipments from his next door neighbouring country,  so it may be entirely his fault to begin with.

"Transferwise" offer a similar service from the UK to many countries.  They offer very keen rates (mid-market) at a modest fee - 0.5%  minimum £2 (recently increased from £1 :( )

When I last did the arithmetic the breakpoint for Transferisw vs Paypal was at about £80 but they will always be a LOT cheaper than the bank or a fee-charging credit card.
