How should the thief be represented?
« on: August 10, 2016, 01:36:32 AM »
The latest MeepleSource Kickstarter has started, check it out!.

Meeplesource have been kind enough to help design a Mascot meeple on our behalf and we've been running some polls to decide what it should look like!

This will be the final of our Character Polls - How should the thief be represented?

Like the pre-previous, vote this will be open for members to make suggestions:

Perhaps you'd like to see the Thief in a cape [ ;) franks], like the dude on the Carcassonne Box art
Perhaps with a knife in his belt
Perhaps a RobinHood cap
Perhaps a bag of money

The poll is open!

I'm voting for the cape.  A bit like this:

I'd like to wrap this up so we can get all our ideas into Meeple Source before they are too busy with their new Kickstarter:

Although it breaks from the traditional representation of the thief on the carcassonne box, I think considering the medley of other accouterments he has I feel a robbers 'mask' might work well here.
as displayed here:

I am quite partial to the robbers mask idea although it could end up looking like a superhero mask...

Perhaps a hooded cape like the one on the game 'thief'
I play orange

In fact I am partial to the Cape because it is more in keeping with the traditional image. Though I could be swayed in the direction of Mrs_Dear. The mask would also be cool  8)

As for the currency, I would recognize the Blue Nose anywhere  ;)
Franks

Wanna play Carc? Can we add just one more expansion?

This was the part that I struggled the most to visualise but I think there have been some great suggestions. A cape seems like a good idea but for me, sticking to the classic meeple shape is quite important as we represent the game that first introduced that shape to the boardgaming world.

So, my favourite ideas are either a robbers mask (covering his eyes like in the picture above), possibly with some thick stubble too as we all know that robbers don’t shave very regularly as they’re too busy out robbing and stuff, or a big bag of loot/ swag by his feet to prove that he’s had a good day of robbing. I think either of these could be designed without changing the overall shape as the bag could be in front of his feet.

PS - just in case it isn'the clear I was suggesting one or other of these two things rather than both
