That's a lot of castles to choose from!

Hope there's a GB Castles expansion too!

Here's my top 3 UK Castles:

1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caerphilly_Castle - the second largest castle in the UK - with a tower that leans more than Piza :D
2) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_of_London
3) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Stalker

Wow! You really like Warwick Castle.  ;)

I like it too, but my favourite is Caernarvon.

I've just put a bug in Kalinda's ear to see if we can get an English/Scottish castles expansion.

And Welsh and Irish! (Yeah, I know, technically Wales is part of England, but still!)  O0

I mentioned to her that Udo let the community pick the castles, so I'm hoping if ZMG is willing to participate that they'll let us pick the castles too, in which case I think we should take a similar approach and try to achieve representation from all parts of the UK.

Thanks Scott,

We've already established that Wales has the best overall castles.
I'd be happy with "Castles of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" as a working title, to represent the country equally.  Mind you if you wanted to be in keeping with medieval-theme, it may that "Castles of the British Isles" is a better title and then we can include some castles from the now RoI, Isle of Man and Channel Islands.

I like 'Castles of the British Isles' much better, myself.

From a marketing standpoint, Castles of Great Britain & Ireland would make the most sense. Remember that the distributor for the UK is the same as the distributor for Ireland; I'm fairly certain they'd include tiles from each section. If there are only ten tiles, I think two from each historic realm of the UK and two from Ireland would work best. If there are more or less, well that's when things will get interesting. The Low Countries abbeys included three from Belgium and three from Netherlands, right? (Poor Luxembourg...)

I'm not sure what a Historical Realm is. The UK wasn't formed until 1707; and is now represented by 4 nations; selecting two is poor idea.  Also bear in mind that in around 1340 Edward the 3rd was a claimant to the King of France; perhaps some English/French Castles should be included from here too.

Ah think I mis-read what you said before....

I think you meant:

2 for England
2 for Scotland
2 for Wales
2 for Northern Island
2 for Republic of Ireland
Total for 10 tiles.

Though these seems fair from GB and NI's perspective; I could see people from the RoI feeling under-represented.  2:8.

As well as folks from Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey. Though I'm not entirely sure of the number of Castles present.

Well there we go:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_castles_in_the_Channel_Islands

Edit:
Check out Vale Castle on Guernsey and Mont_Orgueil on Jersey!

Keep the discussion going for the British Isles. Kalinda is doubtful, but she's going to see if management is interested. I think it's safe to say that, based on what happened with the Dutch/Belgian monastery expansion, there will be the same or more demand for expansions covering the British Isles as well as France itself.

I think so  :)

The british and Scots have many beautiful castles.

If we're limited to 6 Castles to fairly represent the British Isles, then  I propose that a castle near each Capital City is selected.  Ideally, the castles will: a) still be standing, b) Have been originally built within 500years of the Carcassonne time period.

One benefit of selecting castles for the capital cities are they are more likely to be recognised by foreigners and travel makers.  Here's my list.

Not been on forum for awhile.

No one mentioned Bodiam Castle:
