Title: Tournament format
Post by: Scott on March 04, 2013, 12:45:19 PM
If I'm reading correctly, the official tournament rules appear to suggest that all games are played 1 vs 1. If that is the case, I feel that you miss out on certain types of interactions. It would also make a tournament take a long time.

Are qualifying games also 1 vs 1?

Is there a different format that would allow for 6-player games? Would such a format work if the number of players didn't divide by six?

The "Spielezentrum Herne" has 2 different formats for the qualifying tournament:

1. Tournament mode 1
In this mode, a preliminary round is played, where the top 4 players be determined - and then a final with the 4 best players.
The preliminary round consists of four parts, if possible, at tables with four
People will be played. Should the number of players not by four be divisible, is
up to three tables with three people played.

2. Tournament mode 2
There will be a preliminary round where the top 8 players are determined, and then
played quarter-final, a semi-final and a final.
The preliminary round consists of three parts, if possible, at tables with four
People will be played. Should the number of players not by four be divisible, is
up to three tables with three people played.
