That's that business's rate for shipping to the USA.
I don't understand your conclusion.

Be honest, are 250£ shipping costs serious in UK?

Almost certainly not. It's the same thing as you sometimes see on Amazon with third party sellers who don't want to remove their item and re-add it, for example if they're going on holiday and don't want anyone to order anything of theirs while they're away as they won't be able to fulfil it, so put a crazy shipping price on their thing to stop anyone from buying it.

As for why boardgameextras would do this, I'm not sure. But it's certainly nothing to do with Brexit as thankfully we're still in the EU at the moment and can continue to enjoy the benefits that this membership brings.

And certainly has nothing to do with shipping to the USA.

Hi Andrew Wood from Board Game Extras here,
the shipping of these maps is a bit problematic. In that they are too  big to go regular mail, so they have to go by courier.
the problem is that while we got good rates on courier jobs within the EU, outside of the EU it is expensive.
I will need to contact the couriers to see what rate we can get but it is still going to be expensive (ok not £250 but certainly at least £50)

the other problem is how the website deals with things.   So there is no simply checkbox that says item must go by courier, instead everything has a weight and so we have to use a high figure to force the system to give a courier cost, however, if you order 2 things to go by courier, then it gets more complicated as there are two 'courier weights' in the system, and then if you order 5 it goes up even higher.  There is no neat solution for this.

thank you very much for explaining Andrew!

i was thinking of suggesting to contact him for the shipping, as there surely is a reasoning behind it, and i am sure that if someone does, he would give a good quote on what it would cost.

Thanks very much for letting us know Andrew. Really glad there's an understandable explanation behind it, I was really flabbergasted when I saw it and wondered if it might be an error.

I have ordered Carc items from BGE several times before and been impressed with the price and (UK) availability, so wanted to SHARE in case others weren't aware (but also to point out non UK addresses might face rather steep P&P charge).

PS Received my Wingspan expansion pre order the other day, thanks Andrew for the prompt delivery.

So now we've got Christmas well and truely out of the way, I've revisited this and updated the shipping costs
(please note if you order a mixture of items there still may be a problem as it can get a bit complicated but if you are just ordering the maps with one or two expansions it should all work fine)

Has anyone in the US figured out a reasonable way (cost) to get the Carcassonne maps shipped here? I still don’t have any of them, and now there are US maps I’d love to get. But shipping of 40+ euros for posters is too much to pay for it.

I haven't found a good one yet. That being said, six maps at €40 shipping isn't as bad. They are very high quality maps, at least, so the quality is good, not that that helps anything.

Perhaps you could get a little group of you together and split the cost of postage between you? I don't know how easy it would then be to forward the maps within the US but it may make it more affordable overall depending on the size of the group.

Good suggestion and thanks for the well wishes. Anyone on here live in or near Charlotte NC by any chance, and would also want to get these maps?
