It's always interesting to see how different people interpret things, and since we have SO many expansions for the game available, I'd like to know which 3 Carcassonne expansions are YOUR favorites! I have listed the expansions here, please Vote for your top 3 favorite expansions! It will be cool to see which rise to the top and which sink to the bottom of the list ;)
Again, please Vote for YOUR 3 Favorite expansions!

Personally, I voted for The River I, The River II and Traders and Builders.
I think the River tiles give the game a fresh and constantly unique variation to the start of every new game, which I really enjoy!
Traders and Builders adds another fun competition element to the game because it's random which tiles you draw and the fact that you can steal those trade goods from an opponent by completing a city for them is always interesting (and sometimes Very frustrating)! The Builder is kinda self explanatory... you can either drastically improve your score by gaining second turns Or have your Builder trapped by a cunning opponent while they continue to rack up their points with extra turns! I love this expansion :)
PS: You don't have to list which you voted for. Feel free to leave your votes anonymous if you so choose... but I thought it'd be nice to hear some reasons Why some of you choose the way you do!

I think I would need a voting list with 5 or more beloved expansions...
I've voted for:
- Traiders and Builders (because of the pig and builder - I love wood)
- Princess and the dragon (because all the interesting discussion of the rules and also wood: the dragon and the fairy)
- the Messages (dispatches) - (really interesting rules - and I like the chaos at the score board >:D)
-
Thank you for voting Kettlefish, and for also explaining why!
I have yet to play The Messages, but it looks interesting :)
-
I agree, need top 5 for favorites! I chose River II, the Phantom, and the Ferries as those are always played regardless of what others are added. After those, it would be Traders & Builders and Princess & Dragon
-
Inns & Cathedrals
Traders & Builders
Abbey & Mayor
I selected each of these because they add fairly simple wood and mechanics that don't necessarily rely on the addition of tiles. They can enhance the base game - as well as transcend all expansions. They are universal mechanics that add a depth to the game. If I could choose a 4th it would be Bridges, Castles & Bazaars because of the Bridge, then the Phantom 5th. :D

Thank you Carcking for voting and explaining... Very sound logic!
-
Thank you Carcatronn, should I modify the poll now that several people have already voted???
-
??
I just noticed there are 2 verwions of the windroses listed. I thought there was only one. So whats the difference between the two versions?

I just copied the master list I found here on CC... I wasn't aware of a Windroses II either

I tried to some different pictures from google but they seem to show the same tiles. They might be speaking of the german and english version but that would be weird. Anybody else knows whats going on?
:o

You can find all about the Wind Roses in the CAR v6.4 (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=238) pages 155-157.
That are two different versions of the Wind Rose tiles and rules.

Thanx!

Nah we can keep it three... Just so hard to choose only that many :blue-meeple:
-
Well my Original intention for this poll was to have people vote for their #1 favorite expansion, but while making the poll itself and actually typing out all those expansions (man there are a lot!) I realized that it was too hard to narrow my own favorites down to just 1 . I considered a top 5, but some people may not have even played 5 of the expansions... I think 3 is the perfect number to narrow most anything down to. Music, films, games, books... Top 3 it is!!!

my oddball pick was the Plague.
It is without doubt my favorite "mini" expansion. I really enjoy the cutthroat feel it has. It's not perfect by any means, but I love playing it.

Oh man, I was Hoping someone would vote for The Plague, I REALLY want to try that one... now i will have to :)
-
I see that my choice matches others' choices :)
T&B - because of the great Builder,
A&M - many new elements, including my favorites - Abbey and barn,
Ferries - because of wonderful mechanics, not seen before and after.
-
I went with:
Inns & Cathedrals
Because I like the big follower and that the inns can actually make going for a road seem worthwhile.
Traders & Builders
Because the builder is great.
The Phantom
Because it's a really simple idea that can make a big difference on some occasions, and the meeple looks cool.
Quite standard choices, nothing too surprising! I almost voted for The Catapult, because most people seem to hate it but I have actually had quite a few fun games with it (if in the mood for something a bit silly) - it's not actually near my top 3 though.
I also really like bridges, but the bazaars let down that expansion in my opinion.
-
Thanks guys! Traders and Builders definitely seems to be a favorite so far
-
I went with I & C, T & B and King & Robber Baron. I like K & RB because it doesn't change the game significantly so is simple to play but provides a nice little bonus at the end for whoever has closed the largest city/ longest road. The first couple of times we played it it took ages to count all the completed roads/ cities so now we just say it's 10 points per tile.
-
My favorites are River II, Inns & Cathedrals and Traders & Builders. These three are the "base set" to my games of Carcassonne. We usually add different mini expansions from this starting point.
Great idea for a poll "Doc"!

Great idea for a poll "Doc"!
Yes it is a great idea.
But I wish more activity from more members.
We have here at CarcC more than thousand members and
till now only 16 voted in this poll...
Perhaps they have no favorite expansion? ;D

Thank you BT and Kettlefish :)

My picks were:
-Traders and Builders
-Inns and Cathedrals
-The Ferries
Agree with earlier posts, in regards that these are simple fun mechanics that do not require a lot to learn.
As for The Ferries, yes, the unique mechanics is what drew this to be my favourite as well.
And yet, the one expansion I have most of, is the Tower (3x) not counting 6x Phantoms :meeple:
-
My Favorites Expansions are:
- Inns and Cathedrals
- Traders and Builders
- The Phantom
-
I went with the top three because I'm old school. I haven't played with at least half the expansions on that list.

Thank you Scott! This is exactly why I figured choosing your top 5 would be a little much for some of the members :)

For me, I&C, T&B and The Plague. I find that the first two complement the base game so well that they are always played by default. I would have picked the River as well as it's pretty much a staple like the others.....but I find The Plague rather fun to spice up a game or two.
Oh, and hello! (I'm new ^-^ )

Hey - Welcome to the Carcassonne Central Forum toasty! (or is it just toast for your friends :o) Glad to have you on, and thank you for your first post. You're obviously an experienced Carcassonne player - and you like some competitive spice in your games. A new member after my own heart >:D Welcome aboard!

Welcome Toasty!

I'm in. I voted for:
- Traders and Builders (because of the builder and the updated tiles, I use builder in every game now)
- Princess and the Dragon (I wrote a review about how I don't like the princess tile, and how the dragon isn't very important by end-game. However, the expansion is so inventive and does so many unique things, it's probably my favorite BIG CHANGES official expansion. FAIRY POINTS!)
- Abbey and Mayor (love the addition of the Mayor, the Abbey, the wagon and many of the tiles here. First appearance of the WELL, which spawned possibly my favorite simple fan expansion)
Honorable mentions:
-INNS and CATHEDRALS: Huge fan of the INNS
-CULT, SIEGE and CREATIVITY: It's very easy to like an expansion that combines siege (for city and field changes), shrines (for cloister challenge changes) and an official form of the BLANK tiles
Thanks for this survey!

I Voted for the Witch and Wizard. They have a fun addition to annoy someone, but not that hard as the dragon.
-
Hi
Traders and builders
Princess and Dragon
The phantom.
I also wanted to put The School - but the only reason i didnt is that with a big game of carcassonne, the extra points don't last long.
I actually havent play the princess and the dragon yet but it looks really fun so i have voted, thinking that it will be one of my favourites.
it would be good to have the same for some of the fan expansions.
