Title: New: Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers
Post by: Guy on April 14, 2015, 08:46:33 AM
Z-Man Games has officially released their version of Hunters & Gatherers. Tile graphics are the same, same number of tiles and bonus tiles same number of followers, huts, and tokens. Having had a cursory look through the rules they seem identical too, just an update in the graphics...

There is one discrepancy. Regarding forest scoring it says you score 2 points per tile but then in the example they score per forest segment. As they seem to be following the old hunters and gatherers rules my inclination would be this is a typo and they actually mean segment.

Conclusion: Same game in a different box!

Rules available here: www.zmangames.com/rulebooks/Carcassonne_Hunters&Gatherers.pdf

I had never seen this game before. It looks quite nice, I have to say.

Was a little surprised though about the scoring mechanism of the forests as is described on page 4. If you have multiple parts of a forest on the same tile, then both parts on the tile are awarded with two points. Firstly thought it was a mistake, but this counting mechanism is repeated on the following page, so it seems it is meant like that :-)

I believe this is the only Carcassonne based game where this is the case. So you're surprise is completely understandable!
