Strategy Guide / Re: Joining Fields

A really nice article CarcinFool :(y)
I find that a bridge is a very powerful tool to use when you want to join fields. Maybe the use of bridges in this respect also should be mentioned in your article?

Also, Darwin -- could you please post the links for the articles you mentioned or otherwise point me to their location? I tried to find them here using the site search, but it didn't turn anything up...

Thanks!

General / Re: What's your favourite way to play Carcassonne?
« on: January 07, 2015, 12:13:36 PM »
I guess I fall directly on both of these two extremes, as I love both a small game with less than 100 tiles and the mega games with more than a 1000 tiles. So I didn’t vote O0

My girlfriend and I play small games 3-4 times a week (we kicked out the television set 6 years ago). When we play we mostly play the Car spin-offs and manage 2-3 games on an evening after dinner. Last year our favourite was The Hunters & Gatherers, but at the moment our favourites are The City and The Castle.

Usually we only play mega-Car with friends. We are so lucky that we know two other couples that also like to play big games. But the mega-games take quite some time, so it only happens 4-5 times a year. We had an “intended” mega game now recently, when we stayed at a cabin in the mountains together with another couple between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. But it didn’t really get mega (se game report). Our next mega-game is planned in February over tree days with 4 players. We are hoping for bad weather and 30-40 hours of effective game-play >:D

General / Re: What defines "Mega-Carcassonne"?

This is of course a matter of opinion, but for me a mega-game is with at least all the big expansion (1-9) and most of the small. ;)

A really nice article danisthirty :(y)

A strategy guide would be awesome!
But maybe it's an idea to just start with a collection of the different strategy-articles published here on the forum in one pdf-file with a table of contents. I have myself really enjoyed the previous articles:
- Being Kind To Be Cruel
- Cloister Blocking - Why, When and How
- The Awesome Power of the Wagon
A collection of articles like this will be very useful for members like me, which are rather new to the forum. I am sure there are more articles like these in the forum that I have missed.

After a collection like this is completed it could be the next step to make it more streamlined. But in my humble opinion I think it would be easier to keep a collection of articles up to date, than a single document that is intended to cower it all.

This arrived on Christmas evening as a little present to myself.  :D
Got I through BGG for £34.75 including postage. Maybe a little expensive, but now my collection is complete (except La Porxada which I newer expect to get hold of :'( ).

EDIT: - Sorry, but I've removed the attachment from this post as HiG don't allow us to make official Carcassonne expansions freely available  C:-)

Sorry :o I thought that the low resolution of the scan made it ok.

Anything Else / Merry Christmas and a good new Car year

I would like to thank you all for your participation and contributions to the forum. This forum is really inspiring. :(y) Lots of fan made expansions, member who helps other members to get hold of hard to get items, and of course the CAR - our bible!
I wish you all a merry Christmas and an inspiring new year. :D

I would like to see another 2 player stand alone game. Maybe a variation of the excellent game The Castle.

As I am a huge fan of mega-Car I would also love more expansion for the classic Car. But with all the creative fan-made expansions I think it will be hard to invent something fresh. I think HiG’s new bet will be, regrettably, with the new artwork.  :(

Today I received a fantastic fan-made gift from Aenima. Thank you very much.

How many good things have come to you.
Sooner or later we will have to make a gift also to our postmen :)
Wow! Really beautifully made. I envy you.  :D

I also got an early Christmas present in the post today and it was also toy/joy! Thanks Yellow!  :meeple:
Congratulation! The Castle is the best spin of game in the Car series in my opinion. Enjoy! :D

My Car is now pimped up with new bridges and ferries from basicallywooden.co.uk :D

Did you order it special?  I don't see anything like that on the site.
I contacted them via eBay:

Bridges
Ferries
...and just asked for the price for two copies of each + shipping.
