Title: Help with translation needed.
Post by: Paul on December 12, 2014, 03:53:29 AM
Can't make sense of this. Google translate didn't help as it's giving me a statement telling me what I want, sort of.

-----
habe in deinem Profil entdeckt, dass du eventuell Interesse an den
Baumeistern des Königs hegst, ist das noch der Fall
-----

Thanks in advance!

because from what i can see its missing something..

I think the person is asking if you still want these expansions
"ist das noch der Fall" translates as "is this still the case" rather than "which is not the case" when put through google on its own

though why you should be interested in Baumeistern = the Builders is unclear

I guess he is checking your profile in one of the forums on what expansions you want.

I note that your German Carcassonne forum profile  does not exactly match your Carcassone Central one

perhaps the person was doing  a copy and paste from your german forum profile and selected

Builders King

instead of King & Scout:

from your profile entry

Traders & Builders:     owns
King & Scout:     wants

If this is a private message from someone on CarcF then I had the same. I asked kettlefish to translate it, and she pointed out that it was basically just someone who had identified that I was missing something (according to my profile there) - Ark of the Covenant in this case - and was offering to sell it to me. I think.

It seems that quite a few of us got them.

EDIT: It seems he has just sent another message, in English, to apologise for any confusion.

Aha!

Just weird I get an offer like that. Been a while I visited it. It was meant to engage me into learning German but time always wins against anything I do on my leisure time.  ::)

He PM's me as well. I understood that he is planning a collective buy on some copies of the Ark of the Covenant and was identifying and asking those members who showed interest in their profile. I would have been interested but the cost was prohibitive.

AH  - who knew that that german name for the game was Die Baumeister des Königs which translates as The builders of the King

I got a second message, this time from the admin at .de forum. Something about Ark if I wanted it or if he wants to buy it. The translation is just way off, something he did himself this time.

Not posting the message here just to see if anyone else got something similar.

If you go online at CarcF - then you can see that you have got some private messages from the member at CarcF - I think it was "carconepsher".

I got a second PM from him apologising for any inconvenience caused.

It was no big deal really. If I didn't have it already I might possibly have gone for it...

Yes, that's who it was, "carconepsher". That was very nice of him to think to include us in the bulk purchase of the Ark. I logged on to CarcF and wrote back to him. I would have gone for it too but the cost was too much for me.

That's the mail, yes. So the Ark he meant Ark of the Covenant?

Yes, the Ark is the Ark of the Covenant.

Yes, the Ark is the Ark of the Covenant.

Aha!

Thank you.  8)

I was never fond of acronyms and now I have to deal with one-word shortened "stuff". Lol! (oopsie I used one!)

My reply to him was rather neutral but now that I know exactly what he means I can reply properly.
Also, need to look up my forum profile.

 :(y)

The forum profile on the German site is really tedious, they INSIST that you answer the same question (have/ want /no interest) over again for EVERY possible Carcassonne product.  In the end I gave up looking at what item they were asking about and just submited random replies for each component.

I went on and updated mine with little trouble. I noticed they have the 2014 Spiel tile on there.

Ah, yes. I see what you mean. That could be overwhelming. There should be an option for updating it later.
