Do you have any info about it? links would be great ;)No more info yet:(
It does fit über stock und stein better.Agree, and 6 tiles :o was this art so impressive they couldn't make more
Carcassonne really needs to increase its infrastructure spending. You can't just let trees grow in the middle of roads. :yellow-meeple:#MakeCarcassonneGreatAgain
That's just lazy.
I know, but that is still lazy. Sure a number of other games do that—how many Zooloretto 6-enclosure bonus tiles are there?—but it still is lazy. When you are literally making products just to market that product, then that is short-sighted laziness. It is an infinite cycle, too, since there are always new expansion ideas that they can make. I feel this one, in particular, could actually have been a very good basis for a full expansion, but that won't happen now because it is wasted for yet another event. Is Hans im Glück so desperate for Carcassonne sales that they have to continuously flood the market with half-hearted, low-energy, incompatible expansions? I know why they do it, and the result is the same: it is lazy marketing. That's just lazy.
I believe these little sets are (primarily) just marketing tools to the various publishers. They don't really see them as an enduring part of a game system in the same way that we do. That's why they don't care all that much whether they work together, whether the Festival is aesthetically appealing, whether the Wind Roses actually have any significant gameplay value, etc. These things get created primarily because the marketing department just needs another 6 tiles for Event X or Product Y.
Absolutely, and I was not trying to refute or diminish your point. I'm agreeing with you, and pointing out what I think is a causal factor. The marketing goals help explain the laziness but they do not excuse it. Regardless of a product's reason for existing, the publisher should still strive for craftsmanship. I sure as heck would.I know, but that is still lazy. That's just lazy.I believe these little sets are (primarily) just marketing tools to the various publishers.
And by the way: There are 4 fruit token for every land tile with a fruit bearing tree: I think it is possible to place more meeple on the up to 8 tiles of the fruit-bearing tree -what, if there isn't any token left?
Anywhere have this in stock?Yes probably only at the coming events & their webshop(cundco.de).
You can only take fruit if you place a tile next to the tree and place a meeple on that tile. I would say phantoms are a bit difficult, but id say they dont grand extra fruit.
And flyers/portals wont either, as there is no tile placed next to the tree.
Also, you can either take fruit, or sell previously harvested fruit, so even if there is still fruit, you can sell.
And id say if there is no more fruit on a tree, you just wont get any fruit, but can still sell if you want
Does the dragon eat fruits, too?
The past has shown that the reading of the rules word for word is not a guarantee for all possibilities because the publisher himself had not worked through all possibilities and later he changed the words in the rules ...
You can choose the related type of fruit, however, it does not matter which type of fruit you put there, in terms of the game. Thus, any tree and any type of fruit may be combined!
Does the dragon eat fruits, too?I would say no because on page 3 of the English rules for The Princess & the Dragon from Z-Man Games it says "Rule of thumb: The dragon eats all that is flesh and blood!". Since fruit is not "flesh and blood" I think the dragon can't eat it :).
It might sound better/make more sense in German but since I don't speak it I don't know.Quote from: Carcassonne: The Fruit-Bearing Trees rulesheetYou can choose the related type of fruit, however, it does not matter which type of fruit you put there, in terms of the game. Dumb stuff like that just makes a game look dorky. Makes me wonder if during development anyone was paying attention and asking good questions, or it was just all getting phoned in.
I have just read the rules and examine the tiles and to be quite honest, I like the expansion.

I am fruit eating dragon, hear me roar! No virgin plum can feel safe anymore.
Your question is perfectly valid, just made me giggle.

I love the trees, the closeups in the rules are lovely. But I'm undecided how they look on the tile; they don't seem to match in quite right. I'll have to reserve judgement until I see the tiles in person. I love the look of the scoring mechanics, deciding to save them for later or just take the points now.
Had an email from cundco today regarding when it will be released:
"they will be released next week."
The images on Cundo.com are a bit odd. The rulesheet says there are 24 fruit tokens, and this is almost certainly correct since it's a real photograph; but the punched photo shows 28 tokens, and the digital mockup shows 37. I wonder why they would go to the extra effort to make both of those product shots misleading?
Indeed it looks like that. But I think you will have to go for the text description, where stands 24. As that is mostly the best updated thing from them. The images on Cundo.com are a bit odd. Could it be that the digital shot was done before printing and it was known how many tokens would be included?
The real photo could just be that they added more tokens to make it look like you get more than you get in reality. Or maybe they just grabbed a 'rough' amount of tokens for the shot. It doesn't look like much time was spent on the shot itself.
Can't remember they ever did it like this. (Plague and the tunnel were smaller)
Uncertaintrees :D;D ;D ;D
Are quinces popular in Europe, because I don't think I've ever eaten one. They definitely aren't very popular in the US. I might have to see if I can get one in the produce department of my local supermarket, just to say I've eaten all of the fruit from the Öbstbaume expansion. emoji code14]They are usually made into quince jelly. it is a very very hard fruit which is not good when eaten raw. When raw the taste is good but the texture and hardness is not.
172 The wagon cannot drive through any feature to get to another feature. Features are any aspect of the tile that can be claimed by a follower or that triggers a function, including cloisters, bazaars, crop circles, fairs, etc. |
You can buy the fruittee expansion now atOrdered one.

I want to say thank you to you all :) I have just ordered this mini expansion, which I wouldn't have known about if it wasn't for this forum. I know I don't join in with commenting, but I do very much appreciate reading all that you post. :pink-meeple:You are most welcome!

Wait, can you get Ringmasters in the alternate colors now? Last time I asked, they did not have them.

Just ordered 1 + Transparent Meeples + Dulll Transparent + Stickers for the sake of it.The stickers are very cool I still need to take the time to put them on my meeples :-[
Excited!
Hope that's not considered: 'abusing the spare parts service'
Exactly! Hence why I'm testing the waters. Worse that can happen is they have to refund the cost of the six Ringmasters. I own Under the Big Top and want the Ringmasters in the six colours I don't already own – perfectly legit. Same with the Abbots in the other colours (granted, I don't have those in the original colours, but whatever).Hope that's not considered: 'abusing the spare parts service'
Of course not. There's a big difference between replacement parts intended to restore incomplete games vs. unique new parts intended to fill out meeple sets in the extra colors. If they ever do provide ringmasters in purple, brown, etc. then there is literally nothing for those bits to replace -- they would be purposely intended to be purchased as new gamepieces.
Got an email this morning saying my order was shipped. They never contacted me to say the Ringmasters aren't available in the alternative colours. Fingers crossed that they'll be in the package!
Very likely! And considering I don't know any Carcassonne players in my area, I may end up with some random junk. On the other hand, I'm kind of intrigued concerning what they may throw in. Always a surprising buying from Cundco!Got an email this morning saying my order was shipped. They never contacted me to say the Ringmasters aren't available in the alternative colours. I bet you won’t get them and instead will get some random thing you didn’t order.

Good to know!I'm kind of intrigued concerning what they may throw in.
Your intrigue seems well placed ... here's the response I just got from Cundco customer service this morning:
"Unfortunately the ringmasters only exist in the colors delivers with the expansion. It is planned to produce them in special colors as well but there is no production date set I could inform you about."
Here's hoping you get something entertainingly surprising. :)
Got an email with a voucher code to use on a future purchase. No Ringmasters in the new colours yet and no Abbot in gray. Lame.
Well, I've got my haul today. I will post some pics when I get some time but this mini-expansion looks really nice.
Also, the transparent and dull meeples are awesome!
