No farm problem T&B
« on: June 24, 2020, 03:28:33 AM »
me and my friends are playing without farms and highly passive carcassonne rarely taking points off each other so that we keep good vibes, friendly approach... then I order I&C and T&B expansions and we get big meeple that might be a problem... that will make game competitive and not friendly as we are used to... also PIGS... as we don't play with farms what can I do with them... i added Tokens for biggest city and largest road from King and Robber expansion so we have pretty good game... we got river and abbot expansion with base game

What can I do with Big meeple and Pigs...

1. Double the city, road, monastery points where big meeples is used.
2. Big meeples only used as a farmer. Then a pig can be added to the big meeples farm.
(As there is only 1 big meeples each you can share farms if they join, but no nastiness)

You are genius... big meeple as a farmer.... and pig to empower it... damn what a brilliant idea to introduce farms to them... and after that introduce the big meeple as 2 and alow them to place normal meeples on farms

Big meeple +1 for tile same as inn or cathedral
Pig act as farmer
That's my version from now on

I suspect if you don't like farms, only having one farmer will not help matters. You won't be able to correct for a mistake, and you'll be stressed knowing where to play first.

Here's some other suggestions:

Use the Pig on the score track and just use another meeple to your game.
Use the Pig as a +1 on roads (like the inn).

they are not passionate gamers and this is their 1st board game... this concept is looking good as we are now playing carcassonne for 2 months without farms... they actually don't want them as they are used to play without it.
We are used to play with meeples and abbot and when i got them with big meeple, builder, pig it can backfire.
using pig as +1 on roads diminish inns. that's not acceptable. also using big meeple can as normal can stress out the game as we play with girls and if i take her city I might aswell sleep on a couch

Use the big meeple on the score track ... and allow a couple of other coloured meeples for use as farmers (depends on the number of players, of course, so you may not have enough extra colours available).

You can use the pig and the big meeple on the scoreboard as counting figures. You can score with any of them. Every time they meet on the same space, you get an extra turn.

The regular meeple normally on the scoreboard can go to your supply, so you can play with 8 regular meeples and possibly the builder.

Place Followers as usual, but if you place a Pig, it must only be placed with a Follower.  You can call it a Service Animal and score one point per tile extra on a completed feature.

The large Follower, you can call a Thug and place it only on a road, and score one point higher if a road is completed.

FYI: Pigs are considered much smarter than dogs.
