I couldn't possibly not include this in my quiz as it was one of the coolest things I saw in Essen this year (and I saw a lot of cool things). So, the question was: who created a magnetic version of Carcassonne? The answer was: Benny (link - final photo).

This was an easy one even by my standards as the topic in question has been something that people have gone back to time and time again. So who do we blame for burning these holes in our pockets and for spending far more than many of us are prepared to admit to our partners on exciting new games? I'm going to answer this with something that gets said a lot in our house: "It wasn't my fault! Chooselife made me do it!" (link)

I'm especially appreciative of the thread behind question 20 as I'm always keen to know what other games Carcassonne fanatics particularly enjoy playing on the offchance that I might enjoy them too. It's reassuring to see that most of us enjoy a good mix of games too, unless of course you happen to be Halfling who only likes Carcassonne games and is the answer to this question (link)!

Mr. Numbers has to win 3 of the next 4 or win 2 and come in second on 2 to have a chance to beat Kettlefish. Assuming Kettlefish answered any remaining questions correctly, everyone else has been mathematically eliminated.

I know, I know. Sorry! The fact that I was only at work on one day between Christmas and new year really messed up how much time I was able to spend at a computer without constant interruptions from kids.

I definitely plan to have them all answered before the end of the week.

On a side note, I've been working on something very special indeed to give away as prizes to everyone who answered all questions

I'm a big fan of the post I described in this question as it was an interesting idea by itself (playing a game without the base set), which also worked as an open puzzle for everyone else to spot the expansions. But who do we have to thank for this? Of course, it was Leven (link)...

Although I was spoilt for choice with some of the wonderful creations that Carcassonne Central's members were responsible for throughout 2016, the quiz wouldn't have been complete without drawing attention to Carcassonne's Autumn edition which was originally suggested by whaleyland but subsequently created by the very talented wolnic (link).

Congratulations to kettlefish for scoring most points, and thanks to everyone who took part too, especially the nine of you who answered all 24 questions (special mention to MrNumbers and Decar who were the only people to answer all questions correctly). Hopefully it was a fun way to end the year...

As promised, everyone who answered all questions (rightly or wrongly) will be on the receiving end of a prize of some description. More on this later.

All that remains for me to say now is to pretend that it's still 2016 and wish everyone a happy 2017! I look forward to seeing what this year has in store for us as a community and to doing my best to summarise it all in the next advent quiz!
