Cathars (Spielbox), Siege (...), Besiegers (HiG):

the rules are almost the same  - also the FAQ - that means only one pdf for the three versions.
Only one or two sentences are different.

Main Difference on the landscape tiles:
- Cathars: 4 landscape tiles - with monk icon, no watermark
- Siege: 4 landscape tiles - no icon and no watermark
- Besiegers: 6 landscape tiles - no icon but with a watermark

Rule HiG...
Rule Spielbox (the different rule in another color)
Rule ... (the different rule in another color)

In this pdf:
landscape tiles (also the pictures):
- Besiegers (HiG)
- Cathars (Spielbox)
- Siege (...)

From whom is Siege? From RGG?
Rio Grand made Cult, Siege & Creativity to avoid having to print Count, King & Cult/Konsorten/Robber. There also is one MAJOR difference between Cathars, Siege, and Besiegers: Besiegers is the only one recognized by Hans im Glueck as an official expansion (even if it still isn't publicly available yet). Cathars was Spielbox and Siege was RGG, neither printed through HiG (though approved by them). That gives seniority to the Besiegers rules over those of the other two, in my opinion, even if it is the last chronologically.

On another note, I think a PDF for each is still required, even if they are the same. Otherwise the alphabetical nature of the document wouldn't work. As a general option, people could choose to only print PDFs for the expansions they have. But a PDF should be available under each title, with each specific one highlighting the specific rules to that version, if there are any variances (the other versions should be noted in footnotes or side notes).

I'm not an expert but a friend of mine show me some days ago the interest of a wiki. You can create a link in a document (even if the other document no exist yet) and later, create the other page. All pages can be linked together (keywords...).
I know than some wiki can create a pdf from a page or a selection of pages (ie. wikipedia).
Perhaps it's a way to be explored if you create alternate version of CAR.

That would be interesting for me to know. I've often had to create linked PDFs and it's a pain having to find all the words that have to be linked.

Perhaps we can create a second contents list in our S-CAR - (Page numbers: S-CAR v6.4):

First list - Game and Expansions:
Basic Game                    Page 07
The River I                     Page 23
Inns and Cathedrals        Page 25
...

Second list - Parts:
Abbey                            Page   69
Barns                             Page   75
Bazaars                          Page  101
...
--------------------------------------------------

The problem of a complete another CAR:
Who like to work on this second companion CAR?

For the upcoming version of the (old-school) CAR, I could certainly add a second table of contents with the sub-expansions.

I certainly see the utility of a companion CAR, but producing all of those documents, linking them, and keeping them updated sounds like a massive time commitment for what may be limited benefit to most people (especially if the second table of contents would suffice). After all, the pertinent info is still in the relevant sections.

That's a good point, obervet. Perhaps for now we can work on simply having a second table of contents. I should have more time beginning in September to work on projects such as a companion CAR if there's still interest.

I'd like to throw my two cents behind trying not to create a separate document or set of documents that need to be kept in sync. A second table of contents is a good first step.
