In my final game of this tournament I've claimed 7th place.

:yellow-meeple: Merlin_89 vs :violet-meeple: Leven 99:113

The game was eventually decided by farming (as usual in BC&B games): with 8 tiles to go Merlin took the majority on the main farm (worth 31 points) but he ran out of meeple. So for the rest of the game I had the task to join a 3rd farmer there somehow. In the end I was able to do this with my last tile. Lucky me.

A comment to Jéré: this game took place after the game between Hounk and Merlin_89. They will post the result and the screenshot tomorrow.

First, my game against Hounk:

125  :yellow-meeple: Merlin_89 - Hounk  :green-meeple: 107

I'm proud of this game, because Hounk played really good, and he took advantages from double scoring with castles... and I couldn't! Thankfully I did better job with bazaars, and I could maintain solid lead over Hounk throughout the game. As it is with this expansion, all comes to field in the end, we tied it - I won.

Second, Leven.

Game of missed opportunities, and very aggressive maneuvers from Leven. I don't remember anyone, who went so furiously after my meeples in a long time... and it paid off. I tried to pay back, and I had some successes... I was down with meeples, and I knew that I'm gonna be screwed with farmers in the end, so I went proactive and tried to outpace him early there, but he caught up... with his LAST tile, I'd win otherwise. Congrats Leven! But I also think that you're overusing time in later parts of the game, I think it's not necessarily fair to take long minutes to put one tile... At least that's what I think.

 :red-meeple: Rosco vs :yellow-meeple: Adror 70:87

Good game against Rosco which I could manage to win. But it could have gone either way if Rosco draws the last cccc to finish the city, in which I refused to place also my last meeple on the cfff for a 3-3 tie, to focus more on winning the farm. Furthermore he misplaced a castle and misrotated(?) his last tile to place a farmer, so it was a lucky win for me. The first growing city I gave up soon because building mega cities still ends up always in a loss for me. The bridges I used very soon as well but it was absolutely necessary. Thanks for playing, Rosco.

F2
MrNumbers vs. Jéré
112:84

Very interesting game, which kept in tense both players till the very end. I won thanks to the huge 30-points city and absence of opportunity for Jéré to create a castle nearby. No castle were used in the whole game, but all bridges were :)

It's tough at the top! (and the bottom) [but not in the middle] :D

I am scheduled to play khalid tomorrow evening. Not sure about thodekey, but hopefully later in the week.

My game was a game of stupid mistakes and bad luck.  I would have won if I had placed the 2nd to last tile correctly.
Oh well.
Next league will have to be better.

I have contacted both khalid and thodekey seperately and neither are available at present. I'm sure we will play when the time is right for them, just wanted to post here to let everyone know that things are in hand...

Hello Dan,

Is next Thursday around 20:00 CET ok?

Best regards,
Thomas

Sorry to have ruined the sandwich effect of the results so far, but khalid and I played this evening and this was the result:

kq got off to a good start and was leading by about 20 - 30 points very early on. This is pretty much what experience against him had led me to believe would be the case though. Still, I hung on in there and began to claw my way back into the game after a string of bazaars (3 in a row) gave me the opportunity to get some handy tiles and win back a few points.

By the middle of the game I was down to my last few meeples whereas kq had 4 or 5 in hand. I had taken the initiative on the 2 main farms though, so it was up to kq to catch up in this respect. Which he did, and then overtook me on the larger of the 2 farms. However, since everything else was tied this left kq with nothing to play with for the last dozen or so tiles. I used this to my advantage and even though I lost out on what became a 17-point farm I won more than this in the last few tiles just from my advantage of having a meeple left to play with.

I claimed an easy 5 points with my last tile of the game and kq finished by joining a thief of his onto my more valuable road which gave up both a meeple back. But it was too late by this time as this was the final tile of the game.

Thanks to khalid for the game, and for helping me to blow the cobwebs away as it's been a while since I last played with this. I have a feeling kq was in the same boat though, so I guess I just got lucky on this occasions... ;)

Scheduled to be playing thodekey on Thursday.

I played my game with thodekey this evening, a little earlier than planned. Here is the screenshot:

No time for much of a report yet, but it was a very quick game that was split into two distinct halves. Thodekey led in the first half and got himself into a great position with the big city and adjacent castle and cloister. However, neither the city nor the cloister got completed (thanks to bad luck on his part/ good luck on mine, and some trapping from me) which meant he had no meeple to spare for most of the second half of the game. I picked up a few points here and there and eventually caught and overtook him. I tied the farm with him too, but rather than try to win it outright I kept a meeple in my supply and continued to use it well.

Thanks for the game thodekey! Good luck in your match against kahlidqasrawi...

Congrats Dan in winning the BCB-league!

The tiles didn't came as I wanted them to come but you deserved to win: I played bad...you trapped well and I made again the mistake to sacrifice my last meeple...I should know better by now.

Anyway, I'll be looking up to you in the podium ceremonial.  ;)
Just one game to divide places 2 and 3...
