Welcome to the group stage of the 2015 World Cup of Carcassonne Central! This thread is primarily for members of Group D to arrange matches between themselves and post scores, screenshots and the obligatory smack-talk as the group progresses. The top 2 players from this group once everyone in the group has played all 4 of their matches will advance through to the knockout stage.

Due to an apparent "bug" with the way River 1 is implemented within JCloisterZone, please avoid using this expansion in your game. At this stage of the competition we will now be using Inns & Cathedrals and King & Robber Baron only.

What bug? I have been playing with River1 in 3.3.1, and have not seen anything misbehave.

There is no bug, it was a 'bug'.
If playerA places the penultimate river tile; then before playerB's turn, the last river tile is played automatically; then playerB get's a tile to play.
This was interpreted as a 'extra bonus turn'. The River Rules are not overly explicit about this, only stating the last tile should be put to the side and placed when no more river tiles remain.

I can host games - at least I think I can. I was able to before, but I have since upgrade to Windows 10, and have not had a chance to test the setup. Plays fine on our internal network, but I look forward to hosting a game to verify that it works well for those not sitting beside me.

Was a good game; i had a terrible start and the strong placements took the middle game, it all looked like a clear victory before that pesky ffrc tile took 24 points; after that it was pretty hit or miss....it was a miss.

156 points would tie it, in which case MrsNumbers would still go through as it would be determined by the second tie-breaker (total points scored).
Safari must win by 157 points in order to qualify...

I doubt that Safari (in fact, anyone) can win 156:0. Also I doubt that Decar will score only 18 points. Player's minimum score could be at the level of 40-50 points. Taking that into account, Safari must win with 196-206 points (in case Decar will score only 40-50 points). That way he will beat MrsNumbers's total scored points value, so he will need only 156 points difference.

True, but you would agree that on assumptions with very high possibility, near 99,99% :) It's nearly impossible in a Carcassonne game (besides, with 2 expansions!) to score only 18 points with all your 8 meeples, if only you never deploy ones.

I've never seen anyone win a relatively small game by over 150 points either, so whatever has to happen, it's going to be unlikely.

Decar just played with Safari - close game, Decar was lucky to complete the mega city and took valuable points away from Safari with farmers.

Am I right in saying that MrsNumbers qualified for the knock-out stage but MrNumbers did not? There might be some tension in that household at the moment :)
