I am kinda surprised they used a city on the long side.

Also, there are three cities on the long side and five roads on the long side. Because these are both odd numbers, doesn't this mean that you will only be able to complete a maximum of four out of the six squares?

Yes, with these tiles you will be able to hinder someone to close his city.

If you play with less then 6 People the chances to hinder someone is pretty high.

Personally, I prefer gaps to be filled and features to be finished, so I like the spielbox version more. But it's cool that there are significant differences between the two versions so you can mix it up a bit.

I love the different fan-made expansions with Forests and Mountains. They have beautiful artwork and the rules are well thought trough. We always use them when we play Mega-Car.

Now I hope for fan-made Haflings with Forests and Mountains. ;) It would make it easier to use the different Forests and Mountains expansions in smaller games.
For this purpose it would be good to have only fields at the long side ...

Yes, that will make much easier to fill holes.
I hope Scott takes the callenge.  ;)

A good week indeed for you Rosco!

I got my copy of Spielbox today too. Looking forward to finding a time to actually use these in a game now!

Sorry to disappoint, but the artwork for the Forests and Mountains expansions were entirely the work of Novelty. I only wrote the rules. :-[

We have some talented photoshop people around here, so maybe one of them will make your wish come true.

It's a pity that Novelty isn’t active any more. :'( His artwork on the Forest and Mountains tiles are really beautiful.

Maybe I will give it a try myself.  ;)

I own both - having bought the Cundco version first. I'd recommend the Spielbox version to accompany it because I feel the tiles are more 'general-use'.

I find that whilst the Cundco ones, whilst a nice addition, are a bit more 'specialist' for the fact that that four of the tiles feature expansion elements (3x Hills & Sheep features and 1x Crop Circle - which I am guessing is a wild card version as I've not seen an official rule yet).

I think so. I have only played one game with each but I think they play differently. Here are the reasons to buy the Spielbox version:

- There are no expansion elements so you can play it with whatever you want.
- All the hypotenuses (long sides) are fields, so there is a better chance of making full squares with two triangles and therefore a better chance of completing your features and of joining fields.
- Halflings are cool, so the more you have, the better!

I think I'll tend to use the Spielbox ones mostly, and if we want to play with Hills and Sheep anyway, then we'll use the Cundco ones and throw in the Crop Circles.
