Title: Interaction of Magic portal and Fliers
Post by: Snowmax on July 08, 2020, 05:18:18 AM
Apologies if this has already been asked but couldn’t find it on here or on wikicarpedia. Two questions regarding the interaction of fliers (flying machines) and the magic portals from princess and the dragon:

1. Can you fly a meeple to a previously placed magic portal? (I.e. can you place a meeple on the flying machine, happen to roll the correct number then use the portal to place your meeple onto any unoccupied feature?)

2. Similarly can you portal a meeple to a previously placed flying machine and use the flying machine? (i.e. you might want to portal a meeple to the machine and try to then move that meeple to an occupied feature)

Cheers!!

Hi,
no it's not possible. I guess. Magic portal is not "unfinished" feature. So when you use flying machine, you can go only to unfinished feature and magic portal is not this case.
Same is with magic portal, that magic portal can be used to any unfinished feature, but "hill" for flying machine is not that kind of feature.

I added some clarifications to The Princess and the Dragon and to Mini #1 - The Flier (Flying Machines) to make explicit these limitations:

In general terms you won't be able to chain the use of magic portals and/or flying machines. The chosen destination is final. In the case of Flying Machines, if there is no valid feature for your filer on the destination tile, the meeple is returned to your supply.

You can check this clarifications here:
* The Princess and The Dragon:

   - (New interactions for The Flier - no cross-chaining):
